So I got my family in my 08 h2 coming back from niagra falls about 3.5 hours drive. Drove there fine, we switch drivers at a rest stop and I notice that the car temp gauge is at 235. I drive it for a while as it stays at 235 then it shoots up to 250 and I panic stop over into the grass as it says engine overheated turn off engine and I shut it off.
Yep 08 hummer h2 1,000 miles no engine mods , and it overheats on me at 2am with 6 family members in the car.
I am on the side of the road on my wireless laptop right now as we speak writing this!
This is BULL****!!! WTF is a 1,000 mile car doing overheating???????????????????????????????
Also to note when I first touched the coolant cap it was cold, the coolant was low but still visable in the tank. There was no coolant leak anywhere, no damaged hoses, no radiator damage, no coolant on any hoses or on the ground nothing.

Maybe your CORSA exhasut has somehting to do with it. ????
I thought that CORSA had not released thier new exhasut yet for the 08's. I'm sue it fits, but I bet it may have something to do with it.

X2
Were the 6 people in the rig big fatties? That could also have something to do with it.

I havnt installed the corsa exhaust yet, its takeoff from my 03 h2 and still sitting in my garage.
Hummer called, its fixed. The rear air conditioning unit that is now in the 08 h2's similar to the escalades unit it has hoses that clip onto the heater core. Well I guess a hose was not secured from the factory and was leaking out coolant but in the rear near the rear tire he told me so it wasnt noticable. They replaced the line and the coolant and for some reason I noticed when we were pulled over on the road it said change engine oil needs changed too, the mechanic there noticed this and changed the oil under warranty. Why it would need the oil changed all of a sudden with 1100 miles who knows, he said it could have burned up the oil during the whole ordeal.
So I gotta go pickup the truck now, still sucks it had to happen at 2am with family in the car coming back from a roadtrip. It could have been alot worse and happened in canada or new york and been hours away from home.

I hope your engine is ok!
Maybe the mechanic thought "Why not change the oil while it's in the shop"

Yea I hope the engine is ok too or they can put a new one in if its not, they're fault. He said it was ok and he drove it everything is good. He said he changed the oil because it read 0% and said change engine oil. who knows.

Just saw this, and thought I'd ask if your seeing this on your '08.
The voltage reads 14+ when you first start it, but then after you drive a while it drops down to about 13+ or so from what I can tell (it's to the left of the center of the 14V hash mark).
Don't seem to notice any electrical issues at all, and took it on a 200 mile drive Saturday and it would go up to 14, then back down again after driving.
I don't recall if it's been doing this all along, or if I just noticed it the other day.
Curious to see if this is normal or somethings up. Here are some pics. The first is after it's first started, and the second is while driving.

Hey I'm not sure I'll have to try and look if I remember next time I drive it.

Mine does the same thing. I've not noticed any electrical issues other than a chaffed wire from the factory that cooked my BCM or PCM...some module....LOL....chaffed fixed and all is well.

That happens to me as well. It actually says in the manual that battery voltage meter will fluctuate.

It is a fuel savings deal where the alt only puts out the voltage needed. This reduces the load that the alt puts on the engine.

these things are getting so freakin high tech. Have you tried the engine braking feature in tow/haul mode? It automatically down shifts when you have the tow/haul mode activated and are slowing down. Pretty damn slick!
