Well, the first major problem with my '06 H2. I managed to high center it (barely) and couldn't connect the winch to anything to pull me off, so I was "back and forthing" it. I managed to dig some decent gaps with the Xterrains, and placed some cement chunks in the gaps, hit the accellerator (in reverse) and heard a loud *crack* sound. :crying:

The truck was now in permanent neutral, requiring towing. When we got the truck up on the flatbed, there was pieces of transfer case all over the ground. There was also a large hole in the side of the transfer case. It was impressive.

So far the dealership (Sewell Hummer) has been very positive in their response. They told me not to worry, that they have replaced t-cases before without problems. I will keep you all posted on the progress and Sewell Hummer's handling of the whole thing.

BTW, the beast has 33K on it...

(I hope everyone has heard the old joke the title is base on)

hummer replaced my transfer case on my old 03 h2 after getting stuck in a small river. long story short they sent 3 tow trucks out to me which they couldnt even get to me because it was so muddy out, finally one tow truck reached me with 150 yard winch and metal chains on it. Although they got me out I agreed to try and help get them unstuck and while trying to pull out one of the tow truck my transfer case broke. Hummer replaced it under warranty. Good luck hope they do the same for you.

pteam: Thats Awesome! Funny story! My funnyest was when I pulled out a prius from a ditch in a snow storm. Pulling out tow trucks that came to get you out is awesome!

Update:

The service rep not only treated me like a king, he said late yesterday that there would be no problem replacing the t-case. He said it falls under "normal offroading". I like that... "normal offroading"... Never heard that from the Chevy dealer!!! :clapping:

They said that the t-case would be here today and the truck finished asap.

BTW, I did get the extended warranty!! Obviously a good buy!

I will keep everyone updated!!

You using the Dallas or Plano store?

If it's Dallas, Jay and Byron will take care of ya....

At least that has been my experience and is why this is the second Hummer
I've bought from them in the past two years.

I'm glad they are fixing your T-case.

Why should a T-case fail under "normal off roading" is my question

I wonder if they would have replaced the transfer case if you had a supercharger?

(Thinking about this as I was pulling stumps out of my yard with the H2 yesterday)

I wish I had snapped pics. It was quite impressive. Unfortunately I was offroad and it was dark before I got the truck on the flatbed. It was lucky I wasn't farther back off the road. Those tows get really pricy.

As it was I ended up shelling out $160 for the tow. Of course the truck was towed 40 miles to the dealership. I don't think that's too awful for that distance...

As for the supercharger question... I don't know. I am going to avoid a supercharger like the plague... If you want that kind of power offroad, build a offroad-only vehicle. I think that the H2 would has too many points that would break under that kind of power....

Finally got it back yesterday... Running smooth as can be!

Oh well... We'll see how long this one lasts!! :giggling:

Glad to hear you got it back. Why didn't Hummer pay for the tow charges?

I had my truck in for a clunking noise. The service guys exploded the tcase all over the floor...parts, oil, pieces of casing...They thought I'd be upset but all I could do was laugh and say, Better here than out on a trail, or out while I'm camping somewhere!

i have a s/c on mine. I dread the repairs down the road, probably gonna trade it within a year or so for an stock sut

Yeah, I wonder about the damage a S/C would do. I hear they are okay on the road, but offroad they can really tear up various parts...

It's good to have 'er back... My wife's Jag was in the shop at the same time and I was driving a loaner - an X-type. It was a true POS... It amazes me that people will drive one of those when the C class MB and 3 series BMW, among others, is available for nearly the same price (And isn't a butchered Ford Contour)...

Anyway, good to be Hummin' again!

I agree with the comment that Sewell Dallas' Jay and Byron are the best. They have gone out of their way to keep me driving my Hummer.:beerchug:
