I had the front diff oil changed out for royal purple and i now have a small leak from the front diff drain plug,
i notice that this screw plug looks like it has a gasket seal, does this need to be replaced when you change out the diff oil?
the plug is tight so why do i have a leak? should i put some rtv on the plug?
or does it need a new plug screw?
Thanks:o

FYI got a new plastic washer #14042602 and replaced the old one. no more leak. the old one looked a bit deformed.;)

Plastic washers and metal crush washers should be changed everytime that particular plug is removed. Glad you got it fixed. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Sounds kinda familiar to what I have going on with mine. I noticed that the front gear box was leaking and I was going through power steering fluid sooner than normal. I managed to get it to the dealer yesterday...guess we'll see what happens. It would be nice if its just a simple fix like this though.

I used teflon tape on the thread part of all my diff plugs.

Found out that my truck issue was related to the steering gear. Anyway it was covered under warranty. Also, I had them fix the water leak in the rear window seal. PROCTOR HUMMER is awesome!!!!
