Yes, it is version 1. But there is more that one version #1. Each year or so has a new version #1.
I suspect that it is version #1 for each year, in case there are more than 1 version per year, but I am not positive about this.
You have to go by the part #. The one I have is a 2006 GM part #15906573U (86271-70V850). You will see that it is different than the 2003 part #, or any 05-05 part #s. They change the part # with every issue.
Here is a pic. Bottom of DVD dicoloration/scratch is just a photo artifact. The disk is in good condition, and this is not on the disk itself.

I just got one thru eBay that is version 4.1. Of course, then a v5 was listed after I won the 4.1! Always my luck.

Careful! Version 4.1 can be OLDER than version 1. Yes sir. Each year can have multiple versions as I already stated.
In fact, the 2nd auction suggests Version 5 is a 2005 disk, so it is OLD.
There have been multiple posts on this and other H2 forums about this sleight of hand by GM.
That's how GM screws you up. What is the copyright date on the disk? If it is 2005 or older, it is an old disk. That is an easy way to tell immediately. Only if it says c 2006 on it anywhere as the latest copyright date, then it must be a 2006/07 disk..
Each disk edition has a unique part #. But, working off the part #s does not get you anywhere, as the GM Parts guys do not know which part #s are the latest.
Wonder how many people get suckered into buying old disks....
So how old is the one you bought?
I have yet to find a difference between any of the versions. All of the same problems on the older discs still exist on the new ones as well

Really???
I think you have very much missed my point.
How about updates to maps and streets? Error corrections when streets are blocked off, turned to one way streets, etc. New streets and subdivisions being built. Newer is better.
Look closer....
No, I didn't miss your point. There may be many updates, but 90% of the time I put in an address, the darn thing is not in there!
Also, I am very familiar with all the different versions & part numbers of the Nav Disks and have been a contributor to those previous threads where this was previously discusses and noted above.
I have the very latest GM disk that was just released a couple of months ago and it still does not contain 90% of the addresses I input. Let's face it, the GM Nav has much to be desired!
Also, this latest disc mis-interprets the "recalculating route" mode more so than previous versions, making serious mistakes in it's new routes. So, they may have added some things that I have yet been able to tell, and skewed some others in the process.

Hey Tomp - I wonder why you have issues with the addresses, been using the 08 nav system now for a few months and its never not found an address. Havent had any issues with the route calculations either. I wonder if maybe its the area you are in? I also have used a Garmin GPS60CS and the Delorme Earthmate products and they work well but the 08 Nav system works alot better.
