Well, heres the thing I have extended warranty on the RIG and I brought it to the dealer because of a rough idle. So, they diagnost the problem with #2 and #6 injectors plugging up. My extended warranty company doesnt want to cover the injectors because the dealer couldnt show them that the injectors was throwing codes.

So, the warranty company wanted to have me pay $562.89 to fix the problem. Thats $139.99 for each injector + labor. Now if that fixes the rough idle issue and clears the P0300 code, the warranty company will refund me the money... I told the dealer NO because from past experiences I've alway been screwed by this type of deal. So I did my little research on the internet for some new injectors. And I found them on ebay for $19.98 each injector.

So my plan is to swap out all 8 injectors with the new ones. From what I seen it looks like just after taking out the factory cover. Theres only 2 bolts on each fuel rail to get to the injectors.

My question is to you techy guys out there is ... is that all I need to do ??? I personnally know my way around an engine bay and I've built a couple import motors before. So I think I can tackle this job. But I'm asking is there something out of the ordinary that I should look out for with our motors ???

If you have plugged injectors make sure you inspect the fuel rails for contamination, if you find any replace fuel filter if its an 03 or 04. if not the filter is in the tank and is not servicable. Other than that it is a pretty straight forward repair. If no contamination is present usually a good power injector flush will clean up the injectors. If you can get injectors that cheap probably just cheaper to replace them but I personnally have had issues with using cheap aftermarket parts but each to their own. Mostly because if i use them at work and the customer comes back i end up doing the job again for free.

I myself have never had issues with aftermarket stuff... But then again I stay with the big name guys...

oohhh by the way I have an 2005 H2. But I will check the fuel rails for contamination. But as for running the fuel injector cleaner, I did run a big bottle of LUCAS injector cleaner and Techron injector cleaner...

That is not a bad idea as a maintenace item. What we do in out shop is disable the fuel system and hook up an external system with a flush chemical and run the engine off that. using an air source to provide the proper psi ratings (60psi) so that it gets a straight chemical flush. The flush costs more than what your paying for new injectors though so as long as its your labour its pretty much a no brainer to just replace them. if ya run into any trouble with the job let me know and i can send you any info you may need.

I agree with you on replacement, I always wondered how much the injectors themselves cost -vs- all the fancy flush stuff. When I owned a Chevy Duallie I opted for the Wyynns fuel service and it was around $200 and didn't do a damn thing.

Nice to know the injectors are reasonable, screw cleaning them, just replace them!

WOW!!! I give this maintenance work a 2 Thumbs up !!!

Its wasnt as easy as I thought but I rate replacing the injectors, on a scale of 1 to 10 ... 10 Being the hardest and requiring advance mechanic knowledge. I rate this a 3 or a 4 ...

But, after replacing the injectors ... I had to reset the factory ecu with my Hypertech programmer. When I started the rig after the install it idle really really rough to the point of dying. I doubt check for leaks and made sure I plug in all the injector plugs. And shut the rig down and reset the factory ecu with the hypertech programmer. And re-started the rig, it runs 10X better idles 10X better. I went for a short little drive and WOW!!! I can definitly feel the difference in acceleration and smoothness of the H2 at speed. The install took me a total of 1hour 30mins. It would have been faster but I had to have a steep learning curve... First Domestic V8 I worked on... I'm use to working on little 4cylinder import motors...

I drove it to work today and cover a total of 80miles. And the Best mpg I was getting a rock solid 13.2mpg ... I totally suggest doing this if your H2 is running alittle rough or past 60,000 miles on the clock...

The only thing I had issues with was trying to replace the spark plugs... I couldnt seem to pull the plug wires to get to them... It was either too late or I was just too tired...

Can you help me out on giving me information on how to replace my spark plugs... I want to install these NGK Iriduim spark plugs... Thanx in advance

First off give the wires a twist (on the rubber boot) to free them up from the plug and then what i do is position a prybar on the steel boot and while pulling upwards on the steel boot pry it off with your bar and they should pop right off. Does that make sense? I can try to word it differently if not.

My 05 continously throws out that cade and I refuse to give the dealer the money they want.

you need a special star socket ... to Take the fuel rail off ( I think its a T30 or T25 ) ... But there nothing else you need ... just put it in and something to reset the ecu... like programmer or something

I'm good on the torgues

I also have the programmer.

So I'm gonna order these things up.

Can you do the reset with an OBD-II reader after you replace the injectors?

One tip on pulling plug wires- you can buy an inexpensive plastic boot puller that has a "T" handle and fits over the boots. Since it pulls the boot from the bottom near the block, they come off easy.

It's one of those tools that you'll wonder how you ever got by without it.

now thats better ... yay!!! I can buy a new tool...

but you can reset the factory ecu with a reader I think

Only problem with that is you cant grab the base of the boot cause the tin heat sheild covers most of the boot and cant be removed until the plug wire is off the plug
