Someone told me that if I get any work done on my H3, even standard maintance like oil or brakes, from anybody other than a Hummer dealer my warranty will be void. I am skeptical, is this true? I will read my warranty book later, but figured I would ask you all for a quick answer. thanx.

I would imagine if you read the fine print of the warranty that if the manufacturer wanted to they could void the warranty if you got the oil changed at jiffy lube or did it yourself. I've never had any issues with having the oil changed by a non dealer entity and then the dealer voiding the warranty. Sounds like someone is blowing smoke.

umm okay have not heard of this i got my rear light brush guards installed elsewhere. I called my dealer prior to doing this and they said it would not void any part of my warranty.

WOW !!!

neet question...I don't have all my facts in order tonight but i believe there was a federal case (legal) in which it is ILLEGAL to force you to only go to the dealer for work on a vehicle. I believe you can take a HUMMER or any other private mode of road transportation to any licenced repair shop to have work done...there may be a problem with a private person doing there own work and then later claiming a warrenty problem but...

Maybe we have some lawyers on the forum that might better answer the question...I know for sure we have a lot of BULL CRAP MOUTH FLAPPERS who will put in their 2 cents worth of nothing and turn the thread into something that is totally off the subject...

Just another someone who doesn't have sufficient knowledge to be informing you. You are not required to have regular maintenance done by a HUMMER dealer or any other GM dealer. But, and I do mean BUT, you must keep records of the maintenance that you have done on your truck whether you do it yourself or have it done by a local repair shop. You must perform all required maintenance just like your owners manual details. I have my normal maintenance done by a local shop that has been doing this on my cars and trucks for years. When maintenance is due on my HUMMER's I take out the owners manual and have him specifically detail every item on the schedule maintenance list on his invoice. Documentation is the KEY!
