I switched to Verizon yesterday (my ATT contract was finally up) and as in pasts threads the Verizon minutes are much cheaper then OnStar...

You are suppose to have a year left on your OnStar contract for them to accept Verizon so I renewed both H-3's 2 months early (expired in Jan) to adhere to what they wanted...

Had the YELLING and SCREAMING price of $12.95 per month which many of you I'm sure have, well they wanted to raise it to $18.95 per telling me the PROMO ends in Jan of when your current contract ends in 2008...

Anyway, did the YELLING and SCREAMING act again, they transfered me to the discount department...OnStar is going up in 2008 to $2.00 more per month...

reg pricing $16.96 per to $18.95
discount $12.95 per to $14.95

but you can save another (appx) 20% by pre-paying for a year which brings you down to about $12.00 month...

of course all plus taxes...

soooo...for all who knew this is the latest update on OnStar pricing, for those who didn't know,MOAN & GROAN to OnStar and get the lower special price...

Of course for those wise-ass MOTHERS on the forum I'm sure OnStar is paying them to use the service and if us near normals ARE PAYING $12..00 then OnStar is PAYING THEM $12.00

Can you have the Verizon hook-up without subscribing through On-Star? I have it hooked up in my rig, however I do still pay the $12 something per month for On-Star which I NEVER use. Thanks....Jamie

Jamie,

That's a good point. I wonder how many, myself included, pay it and never use it. Aside from the verizon phone service, I've never asked onstar $hit....

I called OnStar yesterday after I noticed the increased charge (from $12.95 to 18.95) The $12.95 was my "introductory price" which happened to expire last month and then jumped to the regular $16.95 + the apparent $2.00 increase, as was already mentioned. I told them I thought $18.95 for a service I've never really used was ridiculous.

The customer service rep then mentioned the pay up front option for a year @ $149...which also gets me 2 extra months for free.....thus coming out to $10.61 a month. So make sure they give ya the 2 free months if you sign up for it!!!

Of course, the customer service chicky went on to stress that at the end of the 14 month period the charges would increase to the regular amount (whatever it might be at that point). Mighty nice of her to give me the heads up on that I guess. :raar:

Yes! Love you guys. Love this forum. Thanks for helping me save a few bucks.

Renewed today. said no thanks to $199.99 renewal fee. Was offered the discount if i prepay 1 year and got 2 months free also.

Total paid $148.92 for 14 months onstar, also got 30 extra minutes for $16.65 and was able to roll-over unused minutes. These numbers include tax.

Onstar is good for another 14 months. Rollover and new 30 mins is good for 12 months, not 14 months.

Happy Holidays!

Hahaha. You cheap bastard. :D You're talking about the difference in the price of 1/2 of a cup of Starbucks coffee.

If you took off 50 lbs, you could probably save the $2/mo in gas efficiency savings. :giggling:

One of the gotcha with OnStar is the minutes pricing. It is a good service though and well worth it.

Mention RYD and get the special deal:beerchug:
