Cheers

the one on drivers side left is fake i believe and the one on the passenger side right is the actual cold air inlet that connects directly to your airbox

Negatory. They're both just for looks.
The intake is in the passenger side fender well.

which leads to that box. The passenger side box is vented on the bottom to receive air. The driver side one is closed off at the bottom and totally for looks.

I just replaced the air box with a K&N kit. The stock box just has a tube that sticks into the fender well. It's not connected to anything. I have noticed that the air intakes at the rear of the fenders (back of the hood) have openings in the bottom. That must feed somewhere. Does it feed to the passenger compartment?

take it back and get a refund, it won't do anything for you !!!

Does the size of the intake matter? Frenzy?

:orly: Show me the tube that leads from that vent cap to the airbox. :notallthere:
The holes in the vent cap are there to allow airflow through the engine compartment. As I said before. the air intake, which leads to the airbox, is in the passenger side fenderwell.

Sewie is right. Those puppies are all for show...
You could run a tube down to the inner fender plenum. Not certain it would do anything:grouphug:

Really, have you done a dyno? I've heard reports of dyno's that dont support your statment and my experiances greatly differ from your statement. Shouldn't make statements like that unless you have proof.

I suggest you do a good search of this forum...
the H-3 comes with a Cold Air Intake that DOES NOT require oil on the filter element...I believe that (not 100% sure) almost all the aftermarket cold air intakes require you to oil their element which increases the chance of contaminates residue (oil) getting where it DON'T belong...
you would be much better putting that $200 to $400 towards a better exhaust system...
Again do a complete search of THIS FORUM before responding (please)

I've had several K&N FIPK's before, they all have made an improvement. As this one has. If you don't over oil the filter, there is no problem. Not everyone likes the K&N, to each his/her own. No need to get beligerent.
I have noticed a small increase in power, which I expected. I didn't expect a large increase in noise though. At WOT and over 4k rpm's, the truck gets very loud. I have noticed a noise increase with each FIPK I've done (that makes sense) but this one is a lot. Still, it's worth it. And I've already done the cat-back and program. I'll do the header as soon as that comes out also.

Wow, you didn't even respond to my statement, or address my challenge on yours. You said "it won't do anything for you" which I have seen reported dyno test that do not support that statement. Then in your next post you challenge my post with a completely different aspect of air intakes.
It is pretty obviouse there is restriction on the factory air intake system whether it be cold air or not(yeah, I knew it was a cold air type already:twak: ). Just look at the fitting from the fender to the air box and then the tube going to the throttle body. They are not the same size. Then put on a KnN replacement and drive around a bit. The try driving with the top of the air box removed. Tell me you dont feel more throttle response and less downshifting when climbing hills.
I don't think I need to search the forums as Ive read most of the interesting and helpfull tech sections here and many other places;)

OK,
What were your findings? Empirical data only kindly...

Did somebody mention air ducts for show????? :giggling:
I'm not trying to argue too much. It just seems that people here think there is no performance gains to modifying the intake and in my experiance there is performance gains.
Here's a post somewhere else with a good set up. Many of you may have already seen it.

Take into consideration that F5stop has said that an oiled filter could mess with the air sensors, what it will do to performance??? I don't have a flippin' clue!:D

I use a K&N filter in the stock box and will beat any stock H3 in a race.I will also wager and make good on this claim for all takers.:iagree:
Hey Cool, cause we race our H3's all the time, Hummer's were built for the 1/4 mile!! :fdance:
I'm pretty sure that at 2mph on a downhill crawl... it doesn't really matter....

Yes, exactly, but that's not out yet. It just says give me your money and one day I'll send you this when they decide to make it. As soon as they say I can get it when I give my money, I'm all over it. More power never hurts. :dancingbanana:
