FW Teen Shot, Killed When He Answers Knock
Boy's Death Second In 3 Days; Mom Shot In Thigh
For the second time in three days a knock at the door, ends in gunfire and at least one person dead.

The South Fort Worth shooting happened about 2 a.m. at the Ladera Palms Apartments, in the 2300 block of Galleria.

According to reports, the 16-year-old was asleep on the couch when he heard a knock at the door.

Kelvin Collier opened the door and was shot by whomever was standing in the door way.

His mother, who was in a back bedroom in the apartment, jumped from a second story window when she heard the gunshots, police said. She was shot in the thigh as she ran.

The mother said she did not get a good look at who was doing the shooting nor could she tell police if there was more than one person.

The woman was taken to JPS. Police said they do not have a motive for this shooting.

Man quit trying to make the whole dam place sound like the ghetto. Move to Plano, Frisco, Flower Mound, South Lake or somewhere nice. All metopolitan areas have "slums" where the creetons live and lurk. You will never escape this unless you relocate to a small town community and then still you have to deal with small town mentalities...

Go get your concealed hand gun license and quit crying about N TX as its not anything like you are describing. People get shot everywhere in all parts of the world. When you find "perfectville" please let us know as we will all join you when you find it.

Meanwhile, man up, lock and load and help the community by standing up and not running like a scared school girl.

Keep denying it. I have my eyes open. Arlington used to be the place to live, now it is sunny south dallas like. When you want to raise your family in a nice place, you put down roots and establish yourself in an area and then in the past two years it is showing the turn of the tide, you get mad, angry, and want to do something. Not leave. But that is what we are left with. Yes it is that bad over here. Plano is not wonderful anymore. I did say in the heading of this email this is the last one. No need to tell me to stop crying because I told you I would in the heading. As far as standing up for the community, f this community. My family is not worth any one of these pieces of crap that are moving in and doing this.

That is what happens in the US. The crime element moves in and the good people that can afford it move out. The government only gives me the right to protect my home.property. Not fight for my city. I do have a cc license.

I wish you luck as Montana would be a nice choice for anyone. However, I was born and raised here in the DFW area and all of the example you list were from Fort Worth in which everyone knows has been pretty much over run by mexicans. You can acutally buy a house in FtW for around 15k.

Now, you bring up Arlington where you have lived and I do understand you establishing your "roots" there. And I dont mean to be mean but on my nice-0-meter on a scale of 1 - 10 Arlington would have never ranked above a 3 compared to many nice areas here in DFW.

Furthermore, Arlington is known by all in DFW to be the Topless Bar and prostitution capital of DFW. There are more topless bars and 100% nude bars in Arlington than any other place in ALL of Dallas and FortWorth combined.

I know its probably hard to come to the realization that you as a possibly quality family needs to get out of your area, but by all means that is not the same reflection on the entire part of Nort Texas as you have stated. Not even North Dallas as to my knowlege Arlington is considered to be part of the "Mid Cities" area of Dallas and it is not part of "North Dallas" such as Carollton, Plano, Frisco, Lewisville, Mckinney, Allen just to name a few that have very low crime rates but yes on occasion crime does happen.

Montana would be nice, but I think if you need/want to stay just have a look further north than you are now and you will find some very quality cities in which to live a nice peacful safe life and rest well about your childrens educaiton.

Man I am north. Not Denton North but I am in the Southlake/Colleyville/Keller area. Arlington was the destination of choice in the 80's. Now it is a Poop hole. That is what I am worried about for our area. It was noce in the 90's and early ots but is slowly turning into the poop hole. I think it is the Mexicans from Mexico and the border jumpers from louisiana have just really sped up the process. I am open to ideas on where to move. We bought 35 acres in east texas that we planned on building on but the landscape has gotten darker. There are no jobs in the Sulpher springs area which means the newcomers are on old Uncle Sam's Dime. So we sold.

I am afraid the state I love (because of the outrages numbers of people from lower income moving here by the butt load) is going to be ruined.

So I am looking to the future and while my kids are young I am going to move them. I love Texas, I love Texans, I don't love criminals or capable wellfare recepients.

I plan on moving out of the city but I am concerned about the landscape in 10 years-20 years. That is my worry with Texas.

Nice Site. The crime stats just show inner Ft. Worth. The big city is understandable for crime stats. It is the suburbs where it is becoming more prevailant. Where it was not before, it is growing.

As far as Katrina affecting more than just Louisiana, I have a bunch of older family in la. and I can not stand to visit. Cities and states population of lower income people rose considerably. I am interested to see the 2010 census numbers. New Orleans was and still is a S hole.

Any advice on where to live is appreciated. Texas is awesome. I just wish I felt comfortable raising my kids here. Maybe I am paranoid or a vegighna.

We have 200+ acres available to move to in the Hills of Kentucky (North East) but I am not real interested in dealing with extended family issues. (I am also afraid the hillbilly in me may come out being around all of those hillbillies)

I am not 100% sold on MT. It may be toooooo freaking cold. But with Gobal Warming, it may be just right in ten years. But then if the Ice age they were talking about in the 70's/80's comes around, I may be screwed.

Move here. It's always ranked as one of the safest big cities in America and one of the top 10 to live in for 2006. It also ranks as one of the highest in literacy.

We have about 100k less people, but only had 19 murders.

Plus, if you count the 7 cities all around the water here, there's over 1.6 million peeps.

My family has been raising GREAT DANES for over 56 years...Moms an AKC Judge, former professional handler...

we have bred, raised, trained, shown and sold a lot of danes...they are very smart but very docile...to make one DEMAND RESPECT from all people is not easy but it can be done...

There is a German method (i forget the name) but I don't like it...kind of brutal...

The best way is teach basic obedience and from that point work on the rest (treat training is my way but there are many) The advantage of a DANE is the size alone is a big deterent...

Many other larger breeds are also great dogs for training...the traditional (DOBE-GERMAN SHEPHERD-ROTTIE) carry the additional association of being common attack trained dogs so that alone can be a great deterent...

I have seen TRAINED MASTIFFS, St BERNARDS, IRISH WOLFHOUNDS, CHOWS etc etc once saw a attacked trained BASSET HOUND (ears and all)

I'm a little surprised about the Ft. Worth data. I go out to dinner downtown and in several surrounding areas almost every night and I haven't run into a crappy area. I'm not saying they don't exist, but you'd never notice it firsthand. You just read this stuff in the paper. I'm not from here, dont' live here, but I spend a TON of time in Ft. Worth. No. Fort Worth is Awesome to go to for dinner, night life. You are 100% right. Just don't venture off your direct routes because it is pretty bad.

It really is not day to day. It is just trending that way. Going to the grocery store is not what it was even 2 years ago. The hood rats riding bycicles in your neighborhood casing the places because you know they do not live in close vicinity. The mall is just a joke. Best Buy. Circuit City. Our window was busted out a year ago and we lost the headrest tv's along with a crowbar to the 6 disc stereo. Our neighbors Horse trailer was getting packed for a weekend Barrel race extravaganza only to come out and it (the trailer) was on blocks.

I found 35 acres in MT but I am not sold on that much cold. I can handle a harsh winter but my nipples would be pebbles all of the time. That may be cool if the women there don't look like Smokey the Bear. $79,000 check out the pics

Yes, there is still a part of the "old town" and "community" that still adheres to the "old days" of the "western" way of life that they are struggling hard to hold on to. While I do admire this, I still watch in agony they council members make really bad mistakes in regards to zoning and other city responsibilities that would keep the bad elements out.

Sadly, they haven?t and its been overrun by Mexicans and welfare degenerates that life a lifestyle of hoodlumism and its hurt the city badly. Crime is terrible there; as you may recall a large segment of the "Cops" TV show series was devoted to Ft Worth.

I just wanted to defend the rest of DFW as there are many VERY impressive places to live that are still quite affordable and safe which attract many people that are coming from FL, NY and CA due to the real-estate corrections.

If you get the time, please visit Frisco and Plano. Plano was voted the nicest city in the USA like 5 years in a row to live back in the early 2000s. And Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation right now.

In any case, GL with where ever you end up but things arent so bad if you will have a look in a few other areas.

I know. My Heading was out of frustration. I love what it has to offer. I frequent some friends in Prosper, and Argyle. They are awesome. I just wrooy what they will look like in 10 years. It is like the good people move out of the area to get away from the elements and the elements that turn good do the same but they drag their element family and friends with them and before you know it the good people move even farther out. Just a cycle I want to get out of. You are correct. Most of the D/FW area is awesome. My area which was awesome 3 years ago is now getting that element. So I want to plant permanent roots. Thanks for your words. I Love Texas, The Horns, The Boys, The Stars. I just hate the criminals that seem to be moving in more and more every day.

You mention Prosper, and I wanted to say that is a great alternate choice for you in your predicament. I know some of the counsil there and I can say they will NOT allow (for future development) large track home developments in the city. All or most of the the city (new dev) is will large 1+ arce lots.

Not to mention the tollway now dead ends right at the feet Prosper thus you could accomplish the small town lifestyle, safe schools and env and still remain in DFW AND watch your real-estate appreciate a a greater pace as you would be in the direction of positve growth rather than in a declining or stagnant area.

I myself find it would be very hard to leave TX and there are few places I would go if I did. Montana would be one of them or any of the "Rockies" states along with any along the "Appliations" as well (including VA)

Dont make a knee jerk descision, think about your family and consider your options. There are a lot of great choices locally but eveyone wants to feel peace of mind and you cant even begin to put a value on that.
