So once again Gabriel got them in trouble and Xena has to get them out. I'm thinking she should drop Gabriel as a sidekick. But then again....it appears that Gabriel completes Xena. She rescued Xena fromreaching rock bottom, so I guess Xena is compelled to stay with her. I'm not going to be able to watch again until next week, so I have several days to contemplate this.

Wait, these are reruns...:beerchug:
Lawless told O?Brien that it was watching this episode that made her alter ego?s sexual orientation finally clear to her:
"Actually, you know, there was always an element of doubt in my mind, it was ? it didn't matter to the way I played the role. So if the audience chose to see it or not ? but I saw it [the finale] for the first time last night and I went home and said to my husband [Xena Executive Producer Rob Tapert], "you've outed my character. I just ... I can't believe I'm saying this. I didn't run this by anybody, but I don't think there's any doubt in my mind anymore."
But something else soon appearedto distinguish Xena from the rest of the pack for lesbian and bisexual women. The writers, producers and actors began intentionally introducing sexual innuendo and dialog that lesbian audiences could read as desire between women, while the rest of the show?s viewing public wouldn?t necessarily notice a thing, such as this exchange in the second episode of Season 3:
Joxer (looking at Xena?s neck): ?Is that a hickey??
Gabrielle and Xena both turn away with guilty looks.
These hints at a romantic or sexual relationship between the two characters became known as ?subtext.?
Lesbian producer Liz Friedmanwas often interviewed in the gay press as the show?s popularity soared, and quite openly acknowledged the show?s lesbian subtext, as she did in 1996 on One in Ten:"That's one of the best parts of the job, getting to throw in references that I know the fans who are interested in that will pick up on, but don't necessarily flash any irrevocable red lights. We opened up a show with the two of them fishing naked, and we're about to have a Halloween episode that will certainly have some nice moments for our queer fans, a little lesbian vampire show."
Here's a list of some of the sexual subtext:

No. I've just learned that you can't make snap judgements about a super hero combos. I'm mean, you wouldn't separate Batman from Robin. Likewise, you can't separate Xena from Gabriel. It just wouldn't be the same.

UPDATE!
So today it was an epidode that sort mirrored the Lord of Rings concept. Xena is in possession of a ring that can be used to gain godlike warrior power. She needed to put it on to gain strength to help Gabriel who was captured. But if the ring has a side effect - I makes you forsake love.
Now Xena can't even remember who Gabriel is!
And the worst of all...... It was "to be continued". Now I have to wait 23 more hours to see what happens.

Tuesday, 12/19. All is well, now.
Xena miraculously regained her memory and recognized again her love for Gabriel. She returned and defeated the evil leader of the Valkyrie and rescued Gabriel. She also told all about the evilness of the ring and in doing so restored Broomhilda from here transfiguration into a demon to a beautiful woman again. She left her in charge of the Valkyrie.
But I have a suspicion that this is not over because Oden was not killed. He historically has been evil was and was largely responsible for the fall of that kingdom in the first place.

OK, WTH!
I'm watching the epsiode this morning and it's ends at 6:45am! WTH is that. It was like a short version. Then some little filler show came on until the 7:00am show was up. I feel cheated because it's was my last episode I'll be able to watch this week.
In any case, the episode was a very light hearted one. I guess I'd consider it a relief after the tension of the Tues/Weds two part saga. In this episode Xena returned to a place where she grew up. They ran into Aries, the God of War, who had recently fallen from the heavens and became mortal. The local warlords wanted to kill him, and Xena spent. most of the episode trying to trick the warlords into believing he (Aries) wasn't there. She was successful. The irony here is that Xena is the one mortal who has the power to kill gods. But instead of using that power to kill she instead was his protector.
When you really think about it.......We have all done things we're not proud of. And when we can use that power for good, it's something special. What a great episode considering the time of year it is.

It's good to be back on the Xena routine in 2008.
Today's episode had Xena and Gabrielle delivering a helmet to the God Hermes. The helmet, when worn, will allow a person to fly.
After saving a virgin from being sacrificed by some crazy religious guys (in which Xena has to use the helmet to fly off a cliff and save the virgin), they had to fend off a warlord who found about the helmet and tried to steal it.
During the events, Xena and Gabrielle played practical jokes on each other. And the result of the joking around almost caused Gabrielle to lose the helmet. It was a close call.
While I admire the friendship between the two, I think Gabrielle is getting a little too careless and needs to focus more.

Today's episode started where Gabrielle had perished when she tried to save a friend. Xena was devastated and Ares, God of War, tried to take advantage of that. He managed to get Xena to agree to marry him in exchange for his services in helping get Gabrielle back from the dead. They signed a contract that could only be revoked by Ares himself. Ares then gave Gabrielle back and Xena proceeded to hide the marriage contract. However, it was uncovered by an unsuspecting scientist during the present day. Xena and Ares raced to the present day to come get the contract. During the fight for the document, Ares blew it up accidentally with one of his fire balls and now the contract is void.
Whew! Need I say more about how Gabrielle is always the source of trouble for Xena? If I didn't know that those two are so perfect for each other I'd probably suggest that Xena just move on.
More to come next week.

You'd think that warlords and evil men would learn.......
Once again, Xena was at the right place at the right time. An innocent couple was about to get married when a warload kidnapped the girl. Luckily, Xena was there for the young man who pled for Xena to help him get her back. In the process of successfully re-capturing the girl she ran into and old flame, Marcus (This was back in the days when Xena wasn't hot for Gabrielle btw). In order to get the girl back, Xena had to betray Marcus who worked for the warlord. This brought an interesting twist to the story. In the end, Marcus actually sacrificed his life to save the girl and do the right thing. It appeared that he still loved Xena. So, the victory for Xena was bittersweet.
It's really hard to start the day with a heart-wrenching episode like this. :(
