I am going to have the Fabtech 6" lift installed next month. I am going up to 40" tires. For those who have done similar mods (or anyone else with knowledge), what gearing do I need to install to take some stress of the tranny? FYI, I also have the magnacharger.

Check with HGW. He's done big lifts, tires and gears.

I just put in 4.56 gears but I am only running 37" tires. The shop that did the install did not recommend anything bigger than 4.56. He said the pinion gear get very small on 4.88 or bigger, and you will have problems with speed sensors and if you tow anything behind the H2.

I have been studying this more for other reasons but, I'm begining to decide that it is best to stay with tires that are not to far away from factory if Your just driving around on the road. If Your a regular aff road then I would lift, tire, and gear. If You do combo or more pavement I would use the tire size to do My gearing adjustments that I feel I could use.
It really leans toward the power Your running and if You want it to have performance on the road 90% of the time and off roading 10 ro 20% fo the time. You just have to really think about what the use of the rig is.
I'm pushing My rig for power and speed just to have the time slips at shows and not off roading it at all so I'm adjusting tires to keep the low end pull etc. with the speed to get to the end. I do also agree with the post on pinion size. That was one thing I was looking at most and what HP and torque the pinion was gogin to have put on it and I do not see going lowing than factory or at leat 4.56

Like anything else opinion for Me and only really good for the person who is giving it to himself.
