Does anyone have the spare mounted on the top of an SUT.
I just got the Sut and would like to get the spare off the back, so I can use the back with the tail gate down.
Please post pics so I can see what it looks like
Also if you can think of con's to doing this I would like to hear them.

You can order a Gobi rack which allows you to mount the spare on top.
I would love to do it but my rig would be too high to fit in the carport.
Maybe when we switch houses.

I leave mine outside anyway.
Can't decide if I like the look or not.
Wanted to see some Pics of other people with tire on top.

If you get the gobi w/ the spare mount for SUT, there is no room for anything else up there. Between it and the sunroof hole (all SUT's have sunroofs) it pretty much takes up the entire roof. Also its a pain in the arse to get the tire up and down especially if you are out on the trails in a tight spot or something. That being said, its a pain in the arse even if its on the back. There is a guy that has that set up and a 6" lift around here, it looks really cool though.

There is on on their website. Wanted to see others. I guess no one has a spare on the SUT roof :(
I had to pick up my 5 new 37s from the freight warehouse on Friday, in my SUT. I could only fit 4 inside due to the bed cover, so 1 tire had to go on the roof. Just with the tire alone and no wheel, the center of gravity was noticably off and body roll was more prevalent! The wind drag was also more noticable coming home in a high wind.
The H2 is bad enough with wind drag and body roll, and with just a tire on top it was even worse. Now that I have experienced this first hand, there is no way I am gonna move my tire up there.
Also, if you look at the above SUT roof rack it would be a lot of money just to put a tire up there.

I have the gobi roof rack for my SUV, and there's no windnoise. It's a GREAT setup !!

Frenzy,
Just curious. How large of a tire would fit?
Could you fit a 37" tire on the rack for instance?
How about a 40"?

Perhaps getting into low clearance areas, like a bank atm or something may prove more difficult with a tire up there...

yep. I ended up with the stealth rack up there instead. I wanted to fit in my garage still. HAving the tire up top really does make that SUT bed more user freindly.

I'm sure a 37" would fit. I've seen lots of pics on other hummer forums with bigger tires. You can always contact Gobi and ask 'em. They're very friendly people.

37's will fit. 40's will not.
