View Full Version : Power Folding Mirrors Will Not Work?????

Hello. I own a 2004 Hummer H2. And I just figured out the other day that my power folding mirrors are not working. I have read many threads on here regarding this but I am still real fuzzy on it. You see the thing with mine is that neither mirror will even attempt to fold in. Both power mirrors are working fine when it comes to adjusting the mirror glass though. When I place my mirror selector in the middle and hold down the toggle to fold them in all that happens is the mirror glass itself will adjust, but neither mirror even attempts to move inward. I have even held my hand on the outside of the mirror bracket to see if I can hear or feel any type of vibration, noise or movement, but again I still get nothing. Is it possible that maybe I have a blown fuse or something, or is it maybe possible that the connections to the mirror may have some corrosion on them and it is not making good contact. If anybody out there can shed some light on this for me I would appreciate it greatly! Thanks!!!!!!! :crying:

...hold down the toggle...

Are you pressing down on the right-side edge of the button? It should be a one-touch affair, without having to hold it down. That said, the pre-2006 mirrors are plagued with gremlins. My passenger side (2005) has finally given up the ghost and needs replacing.

Mine did that on my 03, it's a common problem in the old style mirrors. Assuming your pushing the button correctly, your either going to have to tear it apart (search old thread to find out how) or just replace them like I did with the new style. "thanks extended warranty!"

This is very old and there are quite a few threads on this that can be found using the "Search" function.

Basically, it involves manually folding the mirrors in and out, then cycling them through 3 times with the button.

By searching, you'll also find the TSB on this issue, however I'm not sure dealers are still replacing them under warranty. That info may be in one of the old threads.

I get better Mpg due to the better aerodinamics.:giggling: Plus who needs them out to see, just swerve lane to lane and people will move.;) :giggling:

Actually the reason that I need them to work is that the other day when I had the hummer cleaned up my detail guy manually pushed in my driver side mirror, and now it is loose and will vibrate some while driving down the road. Apparently the only way to make it regain its tension is through power folding sequence. And like I originally said I searched the forum and there are many threads on this issue but I hove not seen one where someone had a situation where both mirrors would not even respond or do anything.

Southpaw,

I have an 03 and both of mine are dead as well. I went to a MD football game and when the mates unloaded, one guy on each side pushed each mirror b/c the lot was tight.

Both have been dead since. I have tried the manual reset that was mentioned above and in previous posts, but to no avail.

I need to get new ones, but my warranty is long since gone (I didn't get the extended warranty:twak: )

Lemme know what you end up doing.

-Matt

The "search" feature will help you tremendously.
