solution to hard ride after leveling

i have an idea which i want to discuss with you.
IFS works as levers(A arms)acting on the torsion bars.when we level our trucks we move the levers downwards to gain lift.this reduces the leverage efficiency on the torsion bars thus giving us a harsh ride on the small stuff(upto the point were the A arms return to there initial position ie before leveling)
my question is this,do you think that if we can somehow measure the difference in leverage length before and after leveling of the A arms,and add spacers or different offset rims to our H3's (or any other IFS truck)we can fix this problem?

You're also increasing the pre-load on the torsion bars and the shock is no longer operating in its normal range of motion.

Get the Cognito/Bilstein shocks and the SAW or Alpha torsion bars. Problem solved. :cool:

Its nothing to do with leverage my friend. You shocks are limited in downward "droop" when you crank up the TBs. Just install the longer Cognito/Bilstein shocks and you will be back to normal:beerchug:

would other torsion bars really give me that factory ride again?if so i want to order asap!
pls let me know which ones to get since our roads over here are not too good and i'm beginning to feel that my H3 is shaking itself to bits!

There is virutally no increased stiffness due to leverage effect of raising the front end. The H3 rides somewhat stiff from the factory.

If you want it to ride more plush, you need to drop it back down & add the Rancho 9000 shocks

That is not true buddy, mine is stiffer ride and virtually rock solid to push down by hand, I pushed one at the dealer theother day and it flexed down easily.

I would have to agree with Nicos. I also have the cognitos, and while handling excellent off-road, my ride is really stiff as well on the road. I think the other thread (leveling first...cognitos later, any issue?) could pertain to this as well. Are there others out there that notice a significant increase in the harshness of the ride even with the cognitos?

Like I said in the above mentioned thread, I noticed an improvement to the ride and handling charactersitics after I finally added the Cognitos to my leveled H3. I rode for about 3 weeks with the lift and the stock shocks and have been very pleased with the results after installing the Cognitos.

However, I did notice that my stock shocks may have been leaking a little. Nothing significant, but maybe enough that the ride quality of the stock shocks was compromised a bit. That may explain the improvement that I noticed after installation of the Cognitos. My H3 just turned 30K miles. I find it hard to believe that the shocks were bad. But who knows!!??
