I know this is an old topic but I couldnt find any good threads, can anybody help? I need a good "step by step guide" to swapping out the stock chrome door handles and mirrors to black ones.
I called the dealer and they quoted $875.00 parts and labor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!
I can get the door handles on that GM parts web site for $12.00ea. The mirrors go for $110.00ea.
Thanx for any help. (also will be looking to sell five chrome handles and two mirrors if anybody is looking).

So you have about $280 in parts with shipping?
Your dealer wants to make almost $600 in labor costs? Make sure to list the dealer for trying to take advantage of your checkbook.
That's about a two hour job.....for someone that knows what they're doing.

I dont want to trash the dealer, but that is what he quoted me. Crowley Hummer, West Hartford, Ct.
I am sure the parts are a little more expensive directly from GM but that would not even get you close to that quote.
Anyway, any helpers with some install info???

Me to.... want to get rid of the chrome. What's the part numbers for the handles and mirrors? Did you get the handles yet. Swapped them? How hard to get the chrome ones off and the black ones on. I have the Muth signal mirrors and am afraid I will break them when I try to take them off and swap them to the new mirrors. Thanks.

Lord, I would trade you but it comes down to the old "trade situation". If we agreed to trade you would need to priority mail the parts to me ASAP so my truck would only be down for a day or two. Same with me. Send a PM and we can discuss.

I could car-pool with the wifey to work for a week. So maybe you wouldnt have to be out at all.
How hard is it to take this stuff off? I'm not very mechanically inclined.

I did a search on it. Seems kind of hard. I'd even have to take the glass out? hrmf...

Lordlang,
I thought that also, but it is much easier than that. Check your PM for some nice info. Let me know.
