Hey there,
A guy from the site who upgraded his H2 to an H1 gave me a great hand-me-down this afternoon. He had no use for his Diablo Predator Programmer. The only issue is that he used it on his truck so the vin# is already locked. Has anyone been able to add another vin#, or know if the company will do something to allow you to "clear" the unit??? Any help will be appreciated as usual.

Kevin,
I am definately stupid to your question. Can you educate me? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
What kind of improvment do you get with this programmer? Has anyone else had this done and noticed a change/improvment?
Sorry I had to give you a question for your question. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I am not totally sure myself Dennis. I do know you can utilize it to change shift points, adjust for larger tires, diagnose problems, etc. I was also told that you could obtain better gas milage and performance. But I can't say, because it is in a box sitting in my living room waiting for a way to be used on a second truck.

That must be one really cool guy. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ok self promotion aside. You may want to send an email to general@diablosport.com This is the tech support for the programmer.
Here's a bit about what the Predator Programmer can do. This is taken from www.diablosport.com (http://www.diablosport.com) website.
• Improves timing and fuel curves
• Allows fine tuning adjustments to timing and fuel curves of DiabloSport tune
• Adjusts speed limiters
• Adjustable rev limiter for a broader power band
• Eliminates skip shifts (CAGS) Adjust speedometer for gear and/or tire diameter changes
• Adjust shift points in vehicles with automatic transmissions, and increase line pressure for quicker, firmer, more precise gear changes
• Ability to re-tune vehicles after factory re-flash of PCM
• Predator flash tool allows custom tuned downloads
• Multi-vehicle diagnostic tool with live data monitoring and fault code scan/erase capabilities.

Kevin,
Here is a link that may help you out:
http://www.diablosport.com/predator.html
or their email address: general@diablosport.com
Always best to get the answers from the manufacturers, in my opinion.
Good luck.

If it's anything like the Superchips programmer it is vin locked until the original vehicle is returned to stock. Then the unit will reprogram another vehicle.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Diablo/Predator stance is that once a programmer has programmed it becomes vin locked. You can take it on and off that vin truck forever but it can never program another vin. Could they make it program another vin if the original vin went back to stock. You bet. They don't because they don't want any used predators on the market. It is working quite well. Search ebay for Diablo predator and also hypertech programmer.
I'm a Diablosport Distributer and I can't say that I hate it.

You will be happy with the predator. It is an awsome product. You simply have to buy a new one.
ps I can't sell any products on this forum. Please don't ask.
Well if that is the case it would be a bit disappointing. You would think they would offer a service to refresh the VIN lock.
Even if they charged $200 or something it might still be of value to some. Figure no parts costs this service probably would result in higher margin for them than reselling a new unit.
I guess this is something people need to consider when purchasing a programmer. Resale value. Might not seem important up front but certainly on the back end.

I have ran into this before with the vin being locked. You must reprogram the old truck back to stock then the manufacture will remove the vin# from the unit so it wil be ready for the next truck. One truck one unit only. BIG-C

Kevin.
If it helps, I did reprogram the truck back to stock before I traded it so the programmer should be free of this issue.

I got a couple of Ideas. Check the programmer for a reset key.... IE something that can be poked with a pin. just a guess. Most firmware works like this.
