View Full Version : HELP PLEASE!!! Shock Mount on Diff

Well guys the OEM mount driver side rear on the diff that hold the shock broke off the welds are crap. My mechanic told me I can go weld it back on...what do you guys suggest. Warranty is out 2003.

So whats the best bet? Didnt have time to go to dealer to get an answer from them...but my garage guy said that he has a guy that could weld it back...what you guys think? Welding it will save me 1500$+...lol

Weld it back on and add extra gusset support to make it stronger

:iagree: I agree nothing wrong with welding something on the outside of the axle tube.

given that replacement mounts can be bought from most axle shops they are all welded on. the axle tubes are just coldrolled and take weld just fine. I would weld it and if its torn through the mount where you think it would be weak fish plate it, then you should be fine. happy fixing.

Ill post some pics tomorrow...delear told me i have 2 choices...

1- weld it at a pro
2- change the whole axle (2000$+)

Tomorrow morning im going to pick it up from dealer and i will re-weld it at a pro that i found.

I say weld it. If it doesn't hold, then you can spend the $2K.

Tomorrow Im going for the welding at 9am...ill get pics of it back on...lets hope this works and holds my new Edelbrock Performer IAS Shocks properly...we also noticed that the EdelbrockPanhard Rod was bent so I ordered a new one...now i seriously dont know how that happened since I dont even go offroading.

The only thing that could of done that i think is the many potholes we have here in Montreal...got it weld back on today guy told me its stronger then factory now and even better then your other one...:clapping:

Glad to hear it's fixed. Damn and I thought we had bad potholes in Pennsylvania!:confused:

I dont know if its suppose to but mine is touching the diff? **** dont tell me those guys put it on the wrong way?:soapbox: :soapbox:
