With the Boston Red Sox one strike from victory over their hated rival, some unsuspecting TV viewers were in for a jolt: The broadcast switched to auto racing....
...

It appeared the network might be able to show both events in their entirety, but with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth, the Yankees' Robinson Cano (http://fantasybaseball.usatoday.com/content/player.asp?sport=MLB&id=1152) fouled off several pitches. At 8:55, Fox switched to the race in the middle of Cano's at-bat.

The final two pitches of the 4-3 Red Sox win were shown only on FX, which is available in about three-quarters of the nation's homes with televisions....

I know!

Good thing we got to see lap 2 of a nascar rave instead of the last few pitches of a ballgame in the last inning, 2 outs, full count, and 1 run separating them. :(
