HERE'S A LIITLE EXAMPLE ABOUT HOW ONSTAR DOESNT LIVE UP TO WHAT IT CLAIMS IT WILL DO FOR YOU 24 HOUR 7 DAY ROADSIDE SERVICE. YESTERDAY WE HAD A FLAT IN OUR GARAGE. I CALLED ONSTAR ON THEIR 888 NUMBER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET SOMEONE OUT TO FIX IT. AN HOUR LATER THEY CALLED TO SAY THAT THE SERVICE PEOPLE CALLED THEM TO SAY THAT THEY DIDNT COVER MY AREA. I SAID FIND SOMEONE WHO DOES. ONSTAR ROAD SERVICE COULDNT FIND ANYONE. I LIVE IN A POPULATED SUBURB NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT. THEY TOLD ME TO FIND SOMEONE THAN THAT I COULD SEND ONSTAR THE BILL WITH THE PROVISO THAT THEY WOULD 'EVALUATE' THE BILL AND DETERMINE WHETHER THEY WOULD PAY ALL OR SOME OF IT, BUT THEY COUDN;T TELL ME WHAT THEIR LIMIT WAS. IT GETS WORSE. THIS IS A 2007 H3. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A FLAT AND THE SPARE HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OFF. SO I FOUND A TOW GUY WHO CAME OUT. AS IT TURNED OUT THE KEY TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE WAS NEVER PUT IN THE VEHICLE. THE GUY WHO CAME OUT WAS SORRY, BUT HAD TO CHARGE ME FIFTY DOLLARS. SO NOW I HAVE A FLAT ON THE ONE VEHICLE WITH HAVE SITTING IN THE GARAGE AND WILL NOW PROBABLY HAVE TO GET IT TOWED TO A GARAGE -- AGAIN OUT OF MY POCKET AND HAVE THE BAD TIRE FIXED AND THEN ARRANGE WITH THE HUMMER DEALER TO GET ME A NEW KEY -- IF THEY CAN. TALK ABOUT A FKD UP SUNDAY WITH ONSTAR AND HUMMER. I WAS TOLD BY THE GUY WHO CAME OUT THAT ONSTAR NEGOTIATES THE CHEAPEST DEALS WITH ROADSIDE SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DOESNT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE IT. I WENT ONLINE AND SEE NUMEROUS CASES OF ONSTAR SUBSCRIBERS WHO ARE LEFT ABANDONED. I GUESS ITS BACK TO AAA.

I was in the wrecker biz for years. you can never trust any outfit that says we will send someone out.

AAA is contract only and you can be out of area with them. I have auto owners now. if by chance I ever needed anything I hand them the bill and its covered.

by the way don't forget to congratulate Hummer through the customer service line on the fine hook up you got.

My Mom called OnStar twice in 1 week and both times they were there in a flash...different services and she lives in the BOON DOCKS...south of Miami in farmlands

1 2 3 yes I can do that for you...

You had a flat in the garage and needed OnStar and then a wrecker? Was your husband out of town?

I've never had a problem with OnStar. In fact, I've had great service. Example:

I was driving home from Moab and my truck broke down in Salina, UT. I was ~2000 miles beyond factory warranty. OnStar had a tow truck to me within 15 minutes and covered the tow to Salt Lake City (a three hour, $300+ tow).

I understand your frustration, but one incident doesn't mean the service sucks.

I now have about 6000 miles on my '07 h3 lux that i leased last december. just had my first service -- tire rotation, oil change, etc. Onstar notified me it was due. I think onstar is a great thing...

Remember that?

We all have something go wrong from time to time....

I think Onstar has been doing me right thus far.

I like the ON Star but keep AAA as well. Don't really understand how you lost your lug key and the tow guy couldn' t get around that?

I have had to call OnStar for a jump before and they told me that they don't actually pay for the service, and then they connected me with the Hummer Road Side Service department. At first they connected me to my insurance, but I declined road side service through them since I had OnStar...Silly Me...
