View Full Version : Afternoon trip
Here are some pics I took today on an afternoon trip with my daughter.
Just for fun. :)
Barlow Trail up near Mt. Hood. It's one of the old wagon trails from way back.
We finally turned around because I thought I'd better not see just how far I could go. ;) :D I didn't want to have to winch us out of a snowdrift.

We saw one newborn baby deer. Bambi. I couldn't get a picture.
The snow was deeper in a few places, but I couldn't stop to take pictures. :D

Yeah! Let me know next time, I am always up for some wheeling.
I heard that the Barlow Road trail was fairly easy, was the snow drifts the most challenging part?

Yes, the drifts were fun, but I just wanted to check campsites.
The trail is a fun drive. The road is easy, but it's beautiful! From Hwy 35 you head south along a creek thru some really old growth timber and meadows. Then it levels out for a while in a place where the forest floor is mostly sand, crosses White River and continues on a Southeasterly course toward Wamic. It's kept open only for licensed vehicles, no motorcycles or atv's allowed. It's a sandy, narrow road so they think that keeping only large vehicles on it will help keep it from eroding too much. At least that's what the forest service guy told me. :)
