Hi, all. Yesterday, in the 85 degree Buffalo heat, I drove about 45 miles to find Dex-cool, the pink anti-freeze that my '03 H2 uses, all over the passenger side of my truck. Opening the hood showed me that nothing had ruptured, but that it had come out of the surge tank overflow hose. The day before was an even hotter day, and I had used the A/C, but not yesterday. The liquid is still, even after the two leaks (one on the way back home) over the fill line on the surge tank by about two inches. Quite a bit leaked out... but it's impossible to say how much.

A friend told me that he suspected that someone, perhaps at my last oil change a month ago, had put regular anti-freeze in with the Dex-cool, and that it was combining in a way that he'd seen before into a more sludgy-oily type liquid.
He suggested a pressurized coolant flush.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ken

Wow. Check this out. Turns out there was a tiny rupture in the transmission cooler INSIDE the radiator, thus my transmission fluid leaked from the transmission into the radiator, damaging my tranny irreparably as it ran out of fluid. Fortunately it's under warranty. This also made it necessary to replace the entire radiator, because, of course, ya can't just get the part you need.

Crap.

I was going to say that was your issue when you said it was pink as dexcool is orange. This is a known issue - do a search and you will see lots of info on it
