RYD it went way south as of this morning at 11 path shows it going over cuba and then somewhere in the gulf, looks like florida is missing this one. As of Thursday it showed the center of the path going right into my town as a cat 3, thankfully it went south, way south and more south so as to avoid florida. There still evacuating the keys though! a cat 4 with that storm surge hitting them id be gone in 5 seconds

It's shifted north of us now. We might get a little of it (whatever Austin gets), but it'll be on the south side at least. Houston's screwed.
NWS scares me tho. They showed path predictions for Rita and Katrina vs actual landfall and they were off by about 300 miles. That's a LOT.
Should be interesting. There's usually nothing good on tv Saturday anyways!

Batten down the hatches. Get on the big tires. Fill up the tanks. Test the generator. Batteries in the lights.
Keep your powder dry!

The most important things after protecting yourself and your house is that generator and the gas to run it. With that you have a icebox, ice, cold drinks, fans, TV, food (can good get old)
The small portable generators may not power your A/C or Water Heater but let me tell you after living through ANDREW, COLD LIQUID & FANS are a blessing !!!

Boarded & ready to ride...plenty of refreshments & canned goods. Small generator this year...I'll have one for the entire house next year...what a pain. I even considered heading over to NO & paying Ray Nagin a visit!!!

Glad you made it out of there, Snake. I think the worst of this is the folks who are not listening....it's "just" a Cat 2. I've been watching footage from 10 AM this morning and just the wave action was flooding towns, the surge wasn't even there yet! Supposedly the upper level winds are closer to a Cat 4. I have quite a few friends in Houston that can't leave, I hope they're ok.

A buddy of mine lives in Seabrook but was in Vegas when it hit is now driving home since the airports are closed, judging by the water mark of Landry,s on the Kemah waterfront he probably took water all the way up to his attic.

I don't quite understand the people on Galvinston Island who stayed during the storm.
I survived Hurricane Andrew, stayed and experienced the problems afterward. But we didn't have a flood threat.
Galvinston Island was told the Storm would push the water over the entire island.
I would think after the New Orleans incident that people would learn...!
Maybe next time, HUH...

This was my cousin’s beach house in Crystal Beach. I used to live next door when I was a kid. We stayed during Alicia in 83. That was bad enough I couldn't have imagined this. I was out there a less than two months ago. This is just insane!

http://www.tpicks.com/pictures%20people%20have%20sent%20me.htmlIs your home still standing?
There was an article that talked about how many homes still standing will be condemned even if they are repairable because the dune line has moved back so far.
Here:
The reason: A 1959 law known as the Texas Open Beaches Act. Under the law, the strip of beach between the average high-tide line and the average low-tide line is considered public property, and it is illegal to build anything there.
Over the years, the state repeatedly has invoked the law to seize houses in cases where a storm eroded a beach so badly that a home was suddenly sitting on public property. The aftermath of Ike could see the biggest such use of the law in Texas history.http://www.reporternews.com/news/2008/sep/18/state-law-could-keep-some-ike-victims-from-homes/

Yes sir home intact...we are about 2 miles inland near Kemah / Seabrook. No flooding only minor tree damage. Our damage was minor compared to most. The Kemah Boradwalk was completely flooded...some of the best seafood in the world was served there:crying:
There is an H-2 in the ditch outside our subdivision someone tried to drown...appears to be an insurance job or a Hummer hater :clapping:
