View Full Version : It the spare tire carrier easily removed on the 08 H2?

I noticed some of the older H2s don't have the tire carrier, and to me that looks a lot better. Does it come off easily? And are there visible holes once it's off?

yes it comes off easy...the only thing you need is a set of rear tow hooks and a license plate holder...

And depending upon your state laws, a light for the rear tag.

did mine and it was cake. Nice to have somebody to hold the bracket up is the only thing. You can use the same factory bolts to hold the replacement tow hooks. Ask you dealer or your hummer tech if you happen to know them. they likely have an extra set laying around.

The right side of the tire carrier has a third bolt hole. What do you do with that hole after installing new tow hooks?

license plate holder goes in the third hole on the left(pass) side.

Does this kit strictly work on the factory mounts? I want to take spare off and start with new hooks and holder. Will this holder work for my SUT? Then just find some hooks?
