Changing Geared Hub fluid

Has any tried changing the geared hub oil WITHOUT removing the tires? If so, any advice you can share on removing the drain plug and catching the draining fluid in the restricted space between the bottom of the geared hub and the inside of the wheel? Thanks!!

I havent. I think to really be able to get at it you'll need the tire off.

You could theoretically do it without removing the wheels, but it would be dumb and more trouble than actually removing the wheel.
