I've been an H2 owner since 03. Last april I sold my 03 SUV and ordered a new SUT. It has taken almost a year to recieve my new 09 SUT ( its two weeks away now ), but now I've been offered an 06 H1 alpha with only 16K miles. What would you guys do?.

MECHANICALLY-
it depends on what you are looking for. I have had 3 H1's and I loved them all, however they are always in the shop. They are VERY maintenece intensive and need constant attention or it will cost you lots-o-money to repair neglected items. Even if you do not offroad the H1 they are problem childs. Not all H1's have such great issues however it is likely that you will have it in the shop at least once every 2 months.
COMFORT-
Does not even compare to the H2 in my opinion. The H1 offers better comfort for the driver but horrible ergonomics for any passengers. H2 beats the H1 in comfort all day long.
BELLS and Whistles-
No comparison, the H1 alpha has the H2 beat on every front from front and rear lockers to CTIS to aircraft magnesium heat sealed panels.. Hands down H1 wins.
Looks- No Comment :-) We all know the winner
Better all around vehicle to own in a city or city -suburb area -
H2 all day long.
Off Road Capability - Depends on the terrain, the H3 in my opinion and experience (3 time owner) off roaded better than my 1's and 2's. I am an experienced off roader and found the H1 to be a great scaler, rock climber and traverser but not as nimble and fun as the H2. The H3 combines both H1 and H2 off road caps and is alot of fun.
This is my few cents, not that it makes a diff but really think about it before you buy an H1. Owning an H1 is more a job more than a set it and forget it vehicle.

I have to agree that the H3 has some advantages offroad to the H2. I've had both the 2 and 3, and the width and size is a major factor on some trails for the 3, but for comfort the H2 wins hands down and having driven an H1 and been a passenger in two others on trails go with the H2. Since you live in Europe with its narrow roads the width of the H1 is going to be a major factor if you drive it every day and getting parts for your H1 will be a boon to UPS or FedEx. H1s are maintenance intensive as has been stated before.
This article is about an owner in Tokyo with an H1, but some of it would definitely apply to you

Thanks for the advice. My main concern would be maintenance. Ordering parts via the hummer dealer here takes forever. It took 2 1/2 months to get a new transmission when mine broke down on the H2. What type of maintenance issues does the H1 have anyway? Engine or drivetrain ?
I wouldn´t drive it around town that much, and most roads here are not as narrow as most people think back home.
I'll probably stick with the H2... but the thoughts, more like dreams, of the H1 will always be there.
Thanks again for the advice.
If you have any doubts about an H1, don't get it, and if it's difficult to get parts, definitely don't get it.
