Today, I rolled down the back window and laid down the rear partition. (I had to carry some long parts)

As soon as I started the truck, I got a warning light saying "rear access open" and the interior lights stayed on.

Someone tell me that you can't drive with the rear partition down???

If that's true, that is the absolute stupidiest thing I've ever heard. Why the hell would I want the ability to lay the partition down but not be able to drive the truck that way.

Did I miss something?

Anyone know?

Thanks,

Mark

hmm... did you close it up and try again? I've had that happen before and thats how i "fixed" it. I gave it a good slam.

I assumed it was because unless it's down, I don't think you can unlatch the rear divider.

I'll have to try it again.

Thanks,

Mark

Well I just went outside and tried it again.

No luck.

Rear access open is still displayed and the interior lights stay on.

I removed everything under the seats just to make sure the rear seats were being folded all the way and checked the connections.

Anyone else?

Yup...do it all the time. Just below and left of the headlight switch is a button, press that and it overrides the lights. The button is to the right ove the midgate window button.

Thanks Chris, I guess that's the only way to use it. I can override the lights by using the switch and leave the dash warning on.

That is how I do it also. The DIC will still say the rear access is open but at least the lights are off. The only thing I don't like is the front seat has to be so far forward to lay the rear seat down. I do love the look and open air of the SUT.

Yep, mine does it too! Thanks for the tip on the button!! I forgot all about that, but I've only had the back down during the day in bright sunlight and really didn't notice the light.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being stupid. I was thinking that perhaps the seat didn't go down far enough allowing some latch or catch to catch.

Thanks,

Mark

You SUT owners do know there is a quick fix for having to move your front seats forward all the time to open the rear......at least I thought everyone new of this.

There is a mod...I posted this some time ago in teh H2 tech section: You can do this mod in about 10 minutes with a dremel tool .

The rear headrest will just pull out for you...all the way out once this mod is done. The Avalanche is the same seat setup in the rear. It makes life much easier not to have to move those front seat up all the time.

You may as well do this mod along with the front seat recline mod so you can tilt your front seats back all the way too.

...and here's the rear headrest mod....it does work and make slife much easier.

...and the front seat recline mod....so worth it if you take long trips and nap time is important.
