Tranny Flush

Is the Dextron III the only recommended trans fluid to replace the stock fluid? I have reached 33K and need to flush the old fluid.. Thanks in advance....Jamie

I think they recommend changing the fluid at 50K in the H2 owners manual, but it's cheap insurance to change it earlier and I've done some serious towing! I had my '06 done at 38k at an AAMCO dealer in one hour for 220. They told me the flush is a dealer tip off and doesn't do anything - to just change the fluid.

Isnt there a difference in dropping the pan and flushing while changing the filter? arent you suppose to do all three things? i used royal purple in my truck and if you really want insurance you need to do the "tranny cooler bypass" search it

GM discontinued the use of the Dex-III branding and recommends Dex-VI (6) as a replacement. The only full synthetic that meets this requirement is Redline and GM fluid. However, it was quite a while ago when I researched the companies and their Dex-VI specs so others may be on board now and have it too.

It is my belief that Maintenance Schedule provided by GM is just that a recommendation under normal use. I have been wheeling in deep sand and have brought my Transmission temperature to above 200 degrees. My experience tells me the trans fluid breaks down above 170 degrees so I would change it. The only reason It went up is because I didnt air down like I should have. I have always used the dealer just because I want GM coverage.

Valvoline is marketing a full syenthetic DEXVI that has the GM approved license markings on the container as well.

So what yall are saying is that dropping the pan and changing the filter and fluid is not enough? You have to have it flushed also? If this is true is it better to have it flushed first then replace the filter and fluid again? Also I was thinking about upgrading the servo if I was changing the filter anyways is there a big difference in the OEM corvette servo and the billet one? I mean its going to be in my trans who cares if its made from shiny billet no one is going to see it? Plus I'm allergic to Billet Chrome.:D

I believe they do not change the filter...I think the flush will purge the filter in place.
