On the highway out of Langtry, TX yesterday I noticed my transmission temperature was running a needlewidth over 200 (205?). It was 86 degrees outside and I was runnning 80 mph on the highway after a wonderful weekend in Big Bend National Park. I've never seen it over 200 unless I was wheeling in 4 low. I know it goes in the self protection mode above 240, but I'd never seen it over 200 before, perhaps I never looked while on the higway in the summer. Anybody else seen the transmission temp at 200 on the highway before?

Sounds to me like your transmission is running at the same temperature as your radiator coolant. The only vehicle I've ever owned with a transmission temperature guage was a surplus army DUCK from WWII and looking at my old pictures - the green band was 210F to 310F. Maybe that's why they took that gauge out on the '08 and '09 H2, so you wouldn't watch it!

Talked with the dealer and they told me 180 to 210 is the normal operating range for summer on the highway with an H2.
Shouldn't be a problem. Mine heats up all the time when I'm pulling hills in warm weather. If it ever got to the red it would be bad, but it hasn't. (In my H2 of course)
86 degrees out?! That really sounds nice right now.......:perfect10s:
