Talked to my friend, car/truck mechanic who does the maintenance of my truck. We're going to take out the onstar device, 'cause it's useless over here in Europe and we're gonna install a pioneer radio there with USB stick hook up. He's gonna connect it all to my existing radio/loudspeakers.

I'll post some pics when intalled.

This sounds pretty interesting. Any updates? Im guessing the ipod adaptors are specific to ipods but this would allow you to play pretty much any mp3 or usb input?

to answer you question:

no you cant hook a USB to the stock radio. your only option is to install a aftermarket system.

i personally just had a Pioneer AVH-p4000DVD installed in my 03 H2. had the Bose 6 CD system in prior. with the pioneer system, it comes with a free Ipod cable, and has a USB cable. i have both cables come up from the bottom of the dash and go right to where teh cup holders are. i keep my 4 gig nano hooked up there as well as a 8 gig USB jump stick connected.

this weekend i will install the steering wheel controller so i get that function back, as well as hook up the DVD bypass. i didnt have the time to invest to installing the deck and figuring out the speaker setup, so i paid $50 to have it installed

the pioneer deck cost $340
$100 for the wire harness with onstar ( i dont use) and door chimes
$20 for the dash kit for the deck
$100 for the steering wheel controller.
all from bestbuy.

Indeed, just put your music on the usb stick and play it.

It'll be pioneer, I won't be able to use the steering wheel radio controls, but I don't care about that.
The thing is, I'll just have two radios : the stock one (with cd changer), that I'll turn on when I want to play my 6 cd changer and the new one that I'll turn on when I want the usb control (it'll have a mp3 cd reader and radio too by the way).
Both will play through my bose loudspeakers

I'll keep you informed.

I'm gonna keep the stock system, 'cause I like the 6cd changer.
Our goal is to install the pioneer cd/mp3 player with usb hook up where the onstar is ,, which I can't use, 'cause I live in Belgium, Europe.
Hope all works out, 'cause it'll beat an ipod adapter
