Hey guys, a while back I built a slantback out of 1/8 inch aluminum, and posted a few pics on here of it... Anyways it didn't really turn out like I wanted it to, so I came up with a new design that should look really good.

My first question fo you guys: if you were going to buy one would you like it to be made out of aluminum, or stainless. I can go thinner on the stainless, because it is stronger, but it will be quite a bit heavier. I get good prices, so it is going to be a lot different as far as cost goes.

My next question is if I can build them as cheap as I am thinking now, how many of you would be willing to pay around $2500 for one (if they were to look good). To do it cheap enough I am going to need to build at least 10 of them to make it worth my time!

Oh, and if I do go with aluminum it will be 3/16 this time for strength.

Any input will be great!

lets see some pics - I have converted 2 SUTs - they were built with fiberglass - the mose expensive part is the glass - what glass r u using? r u paint to match and trim for in-side the slantback? lets get some details before selling them

Fiberglass.... I don't think you can build a slantback out of AL or stainless without looking like a homemade creation. (no offense on your abilities)

It's just that fiberglass will allow you to follow the lines better.

Hmmmm, you got me thinking... I might play with that idea.

I have all of my drawings submitted to my laser cutting guy, and I think it is going to turn out really awesome! I am using 1/4 in. glass for the window, and I am having them professionally installed, so I think that is going to look really good too. As for the color, when I go to sell them I am going to ask what each individual wants, I have the ability to anodize them, color match them with paint, and powder coat.

They are also going to have a lockable, flush mounted latch. I'm not really sure what I am going to do for the insides of them, I was planning on just coating the interior the same as the exterior, but we'll see. I am trying to make the highest quality product that I can, without making them so expensive that they are ridiculous.

The first one is not going to have side windows on it. I don't personally want them on mine, but if someone wants them I can do it!

I will get some pics up as soon as they get done cutting everything out! I should have the first one completed by the end of the week...Minus the glass because I'm not sure if my guy will have time.
