Does anyone have advice on which of these air intakes would be the best for an 06 SUT? I've heard the Airaid's were loud? I'd like some simple performance mods. Plan to do the exhaust, CAI, Ecu reprogram.

Any others that you guys would recommend.

Unless you are building a show truck don't waste your money on an intake, the factory one is just fine and if you remove the baffle it will roar loadly when accelerating and you will have to clean and reoil the filter. Not worth the money in my opinion.

But to answer your question....VOLANT by far....only because it's a lot like the stock setup.....it doesn't let additional hot air around the intake like K&N does, it's sealed off properly

I like my K&N 77 series but mine is also for show, looks better than factory does that for sure.

That setup might work if it is cold enough outside ,but as soon as it hits 75 degrees outside than it will not preform as well as the stock unit. it will also get the K&N oil on the MAF . causeing you to clean the MAF from time to time. And it will let more dirt into the engine than the stock filter . :violin:

:iagree:

I like mine too. I have that unit also. I guess it's all about prefrence. I Never had to much oil on my MAF sensor either, I have only cleaned it once in 2 years. Just don't go overboard putting to much oil on it. As for the roar, yep can't deny it. It is loud as hell at acceleration!!! The heat shield does a pretty good job at keeping temps down but yeah don't expect super low temps on a hot day.

I have no problems with mine. I've ran it threw the MT of Austria and at sea level in Italy and all over Germany with no issues. Clean it once a year like K&N tells you never have any over heating issues or oil. mine is matched up with a borla exhaust I'm happy:beerchug: neighbors might not be:giggling:

I am going for volant cold air intake (http://www.thepartsbin.com/sitemap/volant~cold_air_intake~parts.html). An acquaintance visited that site for one system. The modification is relatively cheap, just fair for a decent increase in hp.

if you dyno it with the stock air box with a new air filter and than your new set up at the rpm range you will drive it in ,you may discover that it looks kool but doe's little or nothing for preformance . and the hotter it gets the worse the aftermarket set up is .as my 83 year old father said to my nephew ,that tatoo may look kool to you but it won't make you any more a man .

has anyone heard of a cold air kit setting a check engine light?
I'm looking at a 2003 H2 and the owner says that it sets a check engine light and that if you keep your foot out of it it goes off.
He claims the cold air kit pulls in too much air.

I've never heard of anything like this

Since I'm doing the diesel conversion, I will no longer have a use for my Volant CAI.

It's on my '06 SUT. (I mention that because it's different than the Volant I had on my '03)

I'll sell it cheap but just so you know, it won't be available for a month.
