I've heard a lot of people rav over the I5 engine, but I have heard a lot of good over the V8. I bought a H3T with the I5. Seems to go really well, but I also own my 08 H2....lots of power.
I was almost thinking that I should of bought an Alpha H3T......Is there anyway to get rid of the lawnmower sounding I5? I think it's the sound it makes that bugs me the most.....it has plenty of power. I don't want to go overboard and redo a whole exhaust system....so I would like your opinions!

I have never heard my exhaust really since I am usually driveing but, the engine noise is kinda annoying from about 3500rpm to 6k. I think I might try dynomatting the underside of the hood, firewall and fenders to see if it helps tone it down abit. I have tried to get B&B to do my exhaust couple times but, they have yet to call me back with a time to drop my truck off. I wouldn't mind a throaty sounding exhuast to help cover up the engine noise.

The header really added some acceleration to my 3.5 I5. Some folks have said the magnaflow exhaust adds a nice sound. The v8 power would be nice but who wants to lose 15 to 25% of thier mpg #'s...

There is no hop-up part that can make up for cubic inch displacement!

wpage, where did you get a header for your I5?

Got mine from a guy on this forum that had ordered the 3.5 type for his 3.7 I think it was made by JTR...

Search around you will find information...

Why did you buy the I5 if you didn't like the sound. You have owned both an Alpha and I5 in the past so should have known what you were getting into.
I would leave the exhaust the way it is being that by the time you get it and have it installed the T will have already been in the shop a half a dozen times. One the plus side if you go with a Magnaflow or Gibson it will drown out all the funny sounds I'm sure you will be hearing:giggling:

wow, so what # of Hummers does that bring the total count to?

I still rarely see an H3T around here, I don't think many have been sold here

Well, let's see I had an 08 I5 SUV, but for a very short time......I really wanted an Alpha, and found out shortly after that the dealer actually had one, but was to lazy to clean the snow off of it, so that I could test drive it. I called the owner and he took back the I5 and I got the Alpha. Loved that truck, but it was to small for me and I needed to step up to the H2.
The H3T is my third H3 technically. I didn't want to spend the extra $$$ for the Alpha package and when I test drove the I5, it seemed to have plenty of power...just don't care for the engine noise, that's all.
Nothing wrong with the truck...it's pretty nice actually!:D
I just saw my first H3T other than mine the other day....it was a black I5....they are still pretty rare in this area!

There's no way to get rid of the little engine sound! The only way I can think of is to weld in a Flowmaster muffler. I would've opted for the Alpha if it was available in 07. I purchased a Tactical Edition and that's the only reason why it's still in my possession, lol.
