Do any of you know if I will have a problem running a 17x12 in wheel on my H2? The reason I want such a wide wheel is because I'm going to be running a 40x16x17 tire on my next HUMMERCLUB trip in MOAB

I've ran 12" wide in my blue H2 with no probs... just make sure you got a way negative offset (backspacing)

How much backspacing did you have and what size tire were you running?

I would be more concerned about my front end holding up with a tire like this. Big and WIDE are generally not a good idea for our IFS setup and you may very well end up in teh shop instead of on the trail. KenP was running a 38x15.50 18 and i think he was only able to wheel for a day or two due to front end issues(centerlink and bent fabtech tie rods i believe). You can search but im thinking you would be better off with a skinny tires with less offset to minimize the front end stress.

That being said KenP also sat his truck after driving hundreds of miles to tellico due to a "bent" tie rod that you could not even tell was "bent". RuggedH2 runs i believe a 38x15.50 KM2(but with a Rancho 4in) and wheels the crap out of his rig so he would probably be my go to as far as tire advice. PhilD on teh hummer*club would also be able to shoot you straight.

A set of 39.5 x13.50 Iroks would suit you just fine im thinking ;).

Any suggestions on what I can do to prevent IFS problems & still run the wide tires? I will be bringing extra tie rods and am looking into finding a center link reinforcement.

Well just go Cognito EVERYTHING in the front end lol. Your truck is already lifted correct?

Yes, already lifted. I'm all about making my IFS as bullet proof as possible. The problem I'm having is that I'm afraid a 39" or 40" is going to rub severely off road.

You might want to look into a slight body lift. Go on the log into the THCI site and look up Rick Grucz. He has done it on his SUT. To Stuff 39's on his.

Not sure on the spacing, must -44mm offset, whatever that is but the tires where 35x13.50x20.
You might be rubbing with 40s (offroad), at least that's what i've gathered from this forum, i dunno.
