I'm curious to get feedback from other 08, 09 H2 owners if ..when you're watching a dvd on the OEM Panasonic overhead flip down screen ...

Does it fill the entire screen? or does it cut it off on the sides?

I heard from the Hummer dealership that this is normal. It doesn't fill up the enitre flip down Panasonic screen.

I question this because ...my wife's 09 Escalade...the Panasonic OEM flip down screen ...the dvd movie fills the entire screen and doesn't leave any "side black bars" on the left and right side.

I never noticed it...because I never sit in the back and watch movies.

My little son complained about it today...

Some feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi your son is getting ripped off. I just checked my 2008 and it plays full screen maybe its the dvd he's watching letter box or something try a different dvd. Also the settings maybe set wrong to watch full screen.

Tracy,

I tried different dvds...and tried adjusting the "perspective" ratio...16 x 9, 4 x 3, etc.

i couldn't get rid of the black lines on the side.

can you take a pic of yours?

I want to take it and show the Hummer dealership.

Thanks

Don

Hi i just was going to take a picture of it for you and i made a mistake it only plays full screen during the intro. One thing that is strange, i don't have the top and bottom 3/8 inch of the screen and you don't have the sides. I am very sorry but i am like you i don't watch dvd's in my truck the front nav screen plays full screen.

I heard this is all you can do on the 08 09 H2's- the screen doesn't fill up like 09 Escalade...
not a big deal...kids ride in the escalade more, but I didn't know this until today...when I took my H2 into the dealership.

Personally, I thought it was a defective entertainment unit.

I tried WS movies...I tried...regular tv show dvds....and anamorphic...dvds...still the same on the H2 overhead screen.

hi i just was playing around with the settings mine is the same 4 x 3 pan scan and 4 x 3 letterbox, but the 16 x 9 is still top and bottom 3/8 inch screen is missing on the rear screen not the sides like yours. I have a very up to date program for the nav radio because i installed the nav radio about 2 months ago then had my bud program it for me. Your right no big deal, i don't watch dvd's in the truck and i will never be sitting back their.

hi Don thanks, but i think we will find its programing because the rear screen is just a monitor.

Tracy,

Does that mean our trucks w/the systems are like that? (by the GM factory standards)

My 09 has 2300 miles...I Poped in a DVD and had no problem filling the screen 16X9. It coud be a power supply problem in the DVD palyer or just defective. If the original is recorded in 16X9 it should play back that way .. If not you should be able to stretch it to fill the screen.

Sounds like a Fault some where..Hope this helps.
