View Full Version : Replaced Airbags with Coils - Service Air Suspension Light stays on???

My '03 H2 went through two compressors when I said enough is enough. I went to a spring shop and replaced my airbags with coils.
Ride height and overall right is just as good as before.
My only problem now is "Service Air Suspension" light in the DIC stays on!
Is there a fuse or relay that I can remove to stop the message from displaying all the time?
I tryed unplugging the compressor harness but it didn't do anything.

Got tired of mine too ;) http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24471

Look in the front drivers side fender well for a wiring harness that has a relay plugged into it, remove it, it is for the air suspension.

It will be just to the right of the shock tower in this pic. I took all the air suspension parts out, wiring and all but in there is a relay, try it and see if the light goes out, may have to pull negative lead on battery for a bit to clear codes/warning after taking it out.

Thanks for the info Ed. I found the relay.
Can I just cut the whole thing off? I tryed unplugging it, but it seems that only one end can unplug exposing the prongs.
Can I leave it like that or does that whole thing need to come out?
Thanks.

Don't have a answer for ya on that, might pull the relay and wrap electrical tape around the plug to seal it off, at least to see if the warning goes out. All those wires are gone on mine, all the way back....and everything else too.

When you unpluged the module on the compressor did you pull the negative lead on the battery to try to clear codes/warning ?

Started it up and NO "Service Air Suspension" light!!!
Whoo Hooo... thanks ED!
I will drive around tomorrow a bit and see if it stays out.. i got a feeling I won't see that notification ever again!!!

Tried Quick Pull for the BlackBerry ? I have the Storm and used it until the BB's software version went to from 4.*.*.*** to 5.*.*.*** and found that Quick Pull does not play nice with the version 5 yet.

Ever hear of CrackBerry.com ? good site for the BB's

The "Service Air Suspension" light is off. I think that did it!
Hahah... I got the Storm aswell... there is a new version of quickpull that works on OS 5... 5.0.0.328 is the cats assss....
I'm actually upgrading to the Storm2 this week.
If your still having issues with quickpull.. go to edit permissions for quickpull and make sure everything is set to "allow" and it will work!

Glad to hear it has not reared its ugly head again :clapping:

I am running a hybrid on the Storm right now, it has 348/351 files that you overwrite in the JAVA folder of 328 files, so far so good with it. ;)

I'll have to check the Quick Pull again I got the "paid for version" and really would like to see it work, thanks for the heads up.

Have fun with the Storm 2 :jump:

P.S. Quick Pull is working, Thanks

I tried this mod to turn off my "Service air suspension" warning and it did not work. Does anyone else have any ideas? I disconnected my battery for a long time after removing the relay.

Still looking for some help on this. Anyone know how to turn off the service air suspension light? Can a dealership turn it off?

Edit: Did you remove your bags for springs ? I have been reading through your post here and am a little confused. This post says you replaced your air bags, http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38979&page=2 to me that means you had new air bags installed but I guess it could mean you replaced them with coil springs (sorry, I am a little slow on reading between the lines) ;) . But, I went over to the "other" site you said that you put springs in, if that is the case, try unplugging the compressor control module in pic below, remove the relay completly under the fenderwell and disconnect the battery, the light should go out.

P.S. Nice looking truck from what I've seen at the other site.

I am out of ideas

Pulled out the relay, check
Disconnected connector completly from compressor, check
Disconnected battery for a few minutes to clear codes, check

HUMTECH, you around ? Got any other ideas that I am missing here ????

I did all that stuff and the "service air ride" didnt go way...I just found out that my compressor and all the hoses are there...And of course all the fuses, relays, sensors and everything else still on my h2.The only thing the dealer guys did was replaced the airbags with the oem springs and cut the ground cable from the compressor and thats was it....
Thats the way this people "upgraded to coils" and charged 1600.00 the previous owner for it...
Anyways i just sent my cluster for repair on an ebay auction to replace the motors and when it came back..BANG...No more "service air ride" on the cluster..I dont have an idea why is not there anymore but i'm very happy the way it is now...
Maybe u hummer tech's know something about it and i hope it helps.Maybe if people with the same problem try to disconnect their cluster and plug back on?...

sounds like teh code was never cleared out.

i doubt pulling the cluster is going to do it, but im guessing you also disconencted the battery which will clear the codes....

also there are multiple write ups on this site for switching to coils, and doing it the right way so you dont get the code.... people just need to use the search option

Guys....check my post regarding this issue.

I went from airbags to coils myself, had my local mechanic buddy help me, and I have had NO ISSUES with the "service air suspension" light.
