Hi All,
I'm a new poster to this forum but figured I might as well get started with something useful so In my next few posts I will detail the installation process of my Coastal Tech Gen 5 Lockpick and Ipod Lockpick in my 2008 SUT.
Happy Thanksgiving

Gen 5 Lockpick:
Note: Turn off the ignition and take out the keys before proceeding.
1. First remove the trim surrounding the radio and heater. I used a large screwdriver wrapped in duct tape to pop out the friction fittings on either side of the bottom trim, then just used steady hand pressure to remove the middle and upper fittings - when the trim panel is loose you need to pull it lightly downward to disengage the top of the clock/vent panel from the dash.

2. Pull the trim panel away about 2 inches and then disconnect the 4 wire harnesses from the back of it and set it aside.

3. Use a 7mm socket to remove the 2 screws from the heater controls and set it to the side (no need to remove the wire harness). Note: you may need to **** the car into 1 in order to make room to get the socket in to the left side screw.

4. Use a 7mm socket to remove the 4 screws holding the head unit into the rack and slide the radio out (I used some foam to protect the screen and the shifter/center console.
5. Remove only the Brown and Black wire harnesses from the back of the stereo and connect them to the brown and black female connectors on the supplied wire harness then plug the brown and black connectors from the new harness into the empty spots in the stereo.

6. Plug the 16 pin connector into the lockpick unit (note: don't change the position of any of the DIN switches on the lockpick once it has been attached to the stereo.

7. I wrapped the lockpick in some closed cell foam to avoid any rattles then slide the lockpick and the wire harness into the bottom of the stereo cavity and reinstall the radio, heater controls, trim plugs and trim and you are ready to go.

8. You can now test the unit by putting the car in drive and attempting to enter a nav destination - if it is still grayed out simply press the voice control button on the steering wheel 4 times and it will become available - same deal with the XM categories and the DVD player.
Note: The lockpick comes with additional hookups for external video cameras etc but I did not install them - if you are not going to use them you can coil up the extra wires and place them in the cavity with the wire harness - there is plenty of room.
This whole process took me about 1/2 hour but would probably only take 15 minutes if you know what you are doing.
