Hi, all,
Tomorrow I'm off to chose an H2 to buy. They're both 2003 models (as far as I know), but one was produced in 2002, the other 2003.
With that in mind, I'd appreciate any information you guys could give me regarding obvious problems with Hummers - what should I check for when buying an H2?
Basically, anything that can help me to make the best choice between these two would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

There have been a lot of TSBs posted for the 03. There have also been a few recalls, but they didn't affect every VIN. I would see if you can get the repair history on any truck you look at and make anything needed was taken care of. And that any truck you buy is still under warranty since you might come across a problem the previous owner didn't recognize. Most of the 03 problems I've come across haven't been dangerous, just annoying.

I have a last half '03 and never had a problem except for the cd changer taking a dump.

Ha! They're all Mall Queens over here!
One of the ones I'm looking at has 24K miles - that ok?

Where do you get H2 service in the UK?? At a GM dealer? I would be sure I had a place to go for parts, warranty work, and competent service.

Yeah, there are a few garages over here that look after american cars - I've had 3 corvettes, so I'm pretty well versed on servicing etc.
Are H2's expensive to service, then?

I think in the UK, I've heard more complaints about just trying to find someone to service the vehicle than the cost.
As far as the mileage, it depends on what kind of miles they were. I think 24K is a little above average for an 03, but not by much. Mine's a daily driver, but has 16K on it.

I drive an 03 and I haven't had anything major go wrong with it. I think they had a year or so to work out most of the bugs. I got it in July of 03 and I have 36k miles on it, but I drive long trips (700miles one way) all the time. I don't think you'll find high mileage in the UK. But I agree about the warranty!!! Most GM people should be able to fix it. HAVE FUN!!! GET SUNSET ORANGE!!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I have 33k miles on an 03 with no problems. Try the folding mirrors and make sure they work properly, and pull in and out of tight parking spot to really work the power steering to feel if it is working ok. I have had problems with both but I ignored them and they went away! As soon as my warranty runs out they will most likely come back. Nah - the two I'm going to look at are both black - you gots to have your blingin' ride, yo! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Thanks for the advice. It's certainly gonna be interesting rolling around in something that is as wide as UK roads! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Forget all that stuff above. Color is the most important thing! j/k

Well you really haven't told us much about either vehicle. But assuming they are close in mileage, neither has been abused offroad, the prices are close and you could live with either color, I would say to go with the truck produced later in the model year. They did correct some problems and made some changes during the year. I would think the one built later in the 2003 model year would have less issues. I have a 2003 built late in the model year and have only had the more common problems that most have had, seat memory, mirrors malfunctioning and a leak. Other than that it's been pretty reliable. If I am not mistaken some of the H2's built late 02 and early 03 had other issues.
