While searching for the best price to purchase either the superchips cortex 2950 or diablosport predator hand tuners I came across a site offering performance chips for the Hummer. SLR Motorsports is claiming there chip adds roughly 50 hp while adding additional mpg with their performance chip. Anyone had any experience with this company and their performance chips?? Thanks in advance..

Don't waste your time and money. find somebody that is able to do a dyno tune on the hummer. Trust me from experience. U can only do so much with a programmer and even less with a "chip."

dude.... trust me on this.... More HP always requires more Gas, you're never gonna get more mpg if you're adding HP to any engine. You might be able to "modify" it so there is no Loss of hp and you might gain some already lost hp by adjusting the right fuel/air ratio or whatever, but never add a lot of hp without taking from your mpg.

Hi ROUSHDEMON is correct. The formula for making HP, the more fuel you can burn affective from your tank the more HP you will make. Anyone saying they will give you 50 HP and better gas milage is full of Chit unless your truck is running on 7 cyclinders to begin with. Their maybe a very small HP gain that would also increase you milage but not 50 HP.

I agree that those chips are just a rip off. To make more horsepower "RELAIABLY" you need more cubic inches. The Lycoming 0-540 (that's 540 cubic inches and a 6 cylinder) produces 260 horsepower in a Piper Comanche at 2500 rpm and some have gone 2000 hours over their recommended TBO, that's the equivalent of 250,000 miles in a vehicle if you consider the fact they are always under load, just like a boat engine, very little unloaded time.
Cubic inches make horsepower and the weight and aerodynamics of what you're moving determine mpg or gallons per hour PERIOD. If you limit the cubic inches then you have to go with the heads, the compression ratio, the cam, the valves, the chip, the induction system and you seriously affect durability. I know you probably know all this, but take it from an old fart who used to race sprint cars, when you soup them up, they like to come apart. I had a chip in a Corvette and it did very little for it except make it hard to start in the winter and when it was hot.

First Off ..The H2 is a Rolling Aero BRICK.! Even if you add a Supercharger and gain more HP which you will you effect other things down the drive line. Tranny ...U Joints Transfer case ...Diff and so on. The H2 is a well designed rig for what it is.

My 09 has 393 HP and hooked to the 6 speed paddel shift it goes like hell. If your towning heavy loads I can see a Supercharger. Ther are new roots style charges out there that will help you tow big loads up hill with out missing a beat as well as smoke all 4 tires...but then you have to handle with care as after the fun starts the tranny clutches start to cry out for help as well as the rest of the drive line.

I would say ...Take the moon-a and dump it into other items that will improve your rigs looks or off road ability or even sweeten up the interiuor.
Forget about gas mileage... it's a Beautifull big fat boy "Like Nothing Else"
With the aero qualities of a BRICK.

But then again..I always say.. It's your rig do what you want with it...enjoy life and your Fat Boy

And I love my Brick just the way she is. :beerchug:

Couldn't agree more with everyone's thoughts. Leaning towards getting my rig professionally tuned. Are there any reputable tuners in the Utah area?? :beerchug:
