I have recently been having issues with my 05' wandering on the highway. For the most part it does good around town but at higher speed the steering is very loose and and hard to keep center so I find myself constantly correcting.

The truck has 4 new tires and I replaced the pitman and idler at the same time so the steering parts are all nice and tight. I did however notice when I had it aligned the caster seems to be out of spec. The left caster setting is currently 2.6 and the right is 3.1. Both are out of the 3.8 - 5.8 settings listed on the alignment sheet. Is there a way to adjust the caster to get both sides into the proper range?

Thanks

I'm not sure if you're running stock size tires but it sounds like either a worn tie rod ends, a worn idler arm, a worn steering gear or a worn steering rack.

Normally, your steering wheel should have no more than about a quarter inch of play. Any more means something is worn or loose and needs to be fixed.

Have those checked.

what he said above:
idler/ pitman swap time
front end aligment
rotate your tires and you should be good to go as long as your steering sharft isn;t in need of service.

Also, my dealer told me $700 to $800 to replace the idler/ pitman and front end alingment. wayyyyyy overpriced.
I would look into a setr of tierods (rarepartsextremer duty), rancho steering stabilizer, moog idler/ pitman and support kit.

Do it all at once and you should be good for years. That's the same route I am going per TomP's suggestions.
