We're still looking for an H2 and my wife still wants the 2006 we found with 54k miles. My biggest concern is with the electrical system. It has aftermarket fog lights, extra lights on top, aftermarket nav, rear seat DVD system and a backup camera (that doesn't work). The first time we tried to test drive it the batter was dead.
I've read the posts about dead batteries and current drain and I'm afraid we're going to have too many problems with this particular H2. The truck has otherwise been well maintained. Am I being too paranoid?

You're not too paranoid. You're smart. A lot of aftermarket people don't correctly connect aftermarket stuff and you could be left with a rat's nest of wiring that kills batteries.

Do you know anything about electrical wiring?
If you buy it, you could go through system by
system and clean up and verify if it is good or bad.
But if you want a stock one then buy one stock

I don't know enough about wiring to go through it and fix whatever might be wrong.

When i bought my H2 the idiot had it wired wack, the dvd player didint work, my alarm remote start was starting my vehicle on its own despite my efforts to try and stop it with remote, every night at 8pm
after bein parked in the garage it was startin for 1/2 an hour every day, i didnt know cause i was in my home than finally a month later i walked out on truck and realized it.
i had a guy come over and he saw that the original installer had my system all wacked out he cleaned it up and now evrything works fine- never had a battery issue though.
but you are smart to look at all the details if you dont you get screwed so take your time and do what you need to cause after you buy it its your problem if it persist- make em fix it

Amateur wiring can be a big problem on H2s with add ons. As for the elctrical system in general, it's reliable except for the igntions on pre 06s and the instrument clusters on 03 to 05s. Mileage is not as important as condition and maintenance history on older Hummers. Always get a PPI prior to buying unless you go with a dealership like Sewell or Lynch or one of the other prominent ones.
