View Full Version : Oil Drain Plug

Does the oil drain plug/bolt have a washer? I have the 2006 model w/ only 20k miles. Recently, I noticed very minimal drops of oil on the garage floor coming from the plug. When I changed the oil, I noticed there was no washer there so I used a little teflon tape on the thread of the plug. After a couple of weeks, the leak is back again. The leak is very minimal at about one small drop every five days.

I have only changed the oil once, myself. I do not recall a washer being used. But then, I tend to not clutter my brain with details like that.

The oil pan drain plug has a seal on it. Part number is 3536966

Thank you! It will be a while before I'll replace the oil again though :)

Oil drain plug has a "built in" black rubber seal, that is part of the drain plug. It is not a separate piece.

You can put in the new one without draining the oil, if you are quick and use one hand to remove the old and the other hand to stick in the new and start tightening fast. Bit messy though.

The seal does come with the drain plug. But the seal is also serviced seperately
