Hey guys, I've been away for a while but I just picked up another H2 and have some questions. This is my first lifted H2 (6 inch FabTech), all work was done prior to my purchase so I'm in the dark. The spedometer is reading about 7 mph faster than I am traveling, which seems backwards (bigger tires should read slower, right?) The tires are very new so I wonder if the previous tires were larger than the ones currently on it. Can a dealership correct the speedo? Also how can I tell if it has been re-geared. It's seems to shift good and have normal power. Would it be really noticable with 37 inch tires if it wasn't re-geared?

I think your reasoning is solid...it must have had bigger tires at some point and had the computer adjusted to compensate for the size difference.

Get yourself a Superchips Cortex programmer...you can adjust your computer settings for the tire size, gears, and other fun stuff.

I'd think you'd have to crack the diff open to determine what gears are in it...unless you know the previous owner. When I went to 37 with the stock gears the truck seemed to take a noticeable performance hit...I had to move to 4.56s to get everything back to normal.

Yeah those programmers are expensive though, so I was hoping to have the dealer do it. Anyone know if they can?

They can...mine asked me if I needed it done when I had them mount my 37s.

Hi nice truck, checking gear ratio. Block the front tires, jack the rear up put the trans in neutral and mark the drive shaft and then turn the rear wheel one turn and count how many times the drive shaft turned your truck should be 4 turns and a very small bit, as it should have 4.10 gears stock. I am not sure if the dealer can put any size tire in they may be limited, ask them. Hand held programers you can change tire size like superchips or diablosport i have had both.

Well I'm going to ask for a programmer for xmas :). I basically need to adjust my speedometer, but won't mind other added perks. Anyone have any suggestions on which programmer to get? I have a 2005.

Hi i have a superchips cortex and predator diablo sport for my 2008 h2. I am using the predator because their was a few problems with the cortex and my truck and superchips customer service sucks IMO from dealing with them. My truck didn't have any problems before i installed their program. They said the problems i had were in my truck but as soon as i unstalled their program my truck was fixed. Also when i installed the predator program it works fine. Maybe other guys have had better luck with superchips but i will never buy from them again. I have a $400 paper weight. Hope this helps.

I used the Hypertech Power Programmer and it has never let me down in my previous vehicles.
