Any idea how to get the light to go off in the park position or even while driving?
I had a 07 and the lights you could manually shut off, but no I have just purchased a used 2003 H2 with after market Nav and dvds. So wiring must have been messed with.
Anyways, I need to figure out how to get the lights to turn off........like if i am in a driveways and the light are shinning right in someone house and I want to shut them off.......Any ideas?
Any suggestions will help.
Thank you

oh wow.... hmmm.
There is no way of telling then, there has got to be a switch or something for them. Try playing around with the computer and tell them to turn off as soon as you turn the engine off, no Delay on them. I dunno.... something has to work. Good luck.:beerchug:

I need a programmer for that....which I don't have :violin:
But thanks for your help RoushDemon.
I think the electrical has been all screwed with. I has after market nav and dvds....I think they messed with the wiring. I may bring it to the dealer :twak:

Do your steering wheel volume control buttons work?? with the aftermarket DVD/Radio? if they do then there should be a green wire connected somewhere underneath the steering column feeding off of one of the cables that goes up to the steering wheel... Play with that and see if its not connected to the right cable or MAAAAAAAAYBE its connected to a cable that controls the headlights, the devise that makes that aftermarket radio work has its own power source and it might be messing with something its not supposed to, I would even go in the outside fusebox in the engine bay and see if there is no cable in between any fuses as if they're making your DRLs work along with the headlights, might be making a short? I dunno, good luck bro.
Tracy, you got any ideas???

I'll check it in the morning.
Thanks again roush

Another thing - the daytime running light don't even work as far as I have seen.
I've only owned the truck for a week tomorrow....so just figuring out the tweaks on it.
Could very well be related to the after market NAV :iagree:
Can't wait to install my MAC CAI and Granitelli MAF w/ CAI tuning...came off my 07
It really helped my 07....even with just a little extra HP, but i had some exhaust, which will be next on my 2003:jump:

Dunno if it works on the H2, but on Chev trucks of certain years, you could kill the drl's by cycling the dome lamp override button on/off five times. (ten pushes) Worth a shot.

Own it flat out. I owed 18k for three more years at 7% intrest.
I now own a more dialed in vehicle with 40k more miles, but no car payment.
I liked the 07 alot, but for the money spent I have the same truck, actually better....Matte black and loaded!! :clapping:

I did love that one. It was a Lux editiion and 03 is adventure.
But for the money saved......

The wiring is just hard to even tell what is what under the steering wheel.
I did play with the CPU and made the lights go off with no delay, but they are running as soon as I turn the engine on.

sounds like you are having a problm with the ambient light sensor on the dash.Make sure it is not covered up or missing. Was the truck ever registered in Canada? If so the drl's cannot be shutoff and someone may have wired the drl's to come on with the headlights.

I think It may have been made in Canada.
It says Canada on the door sticker.
The light sensor is not covered, but the dash is after market carbon fiber with a after market NAV as i mentioned previously in this thread.
The head lights stay on and the DRL's do not ever come on. Obviously a wiring issue.
The question is how do i fix it?
I appreciate the responses.....HUMTECH you sound like you know a lot about the wiring.
Thanks for your comments

That's what I meant before when I said the fuse block in the engine bay.....
Looks like someone most have played around with that.
BTW... I know it might be a stupid question.. but you do know that the DRLs only come on when you take it out of PARK right??
Just making sure we're not missing anything bro.

I appreciate the help guys.
I do know the DRL's only go on when its in the drive and they are off in the park position.....but thanks for the heads up.
I put the car in drive with ebrake engaged and got out to check the drl's - confirmed not working. They are amber, not like that matter, but kind of weird.
I will check the fuse box for the jumper in fuse box under the hood.
I'll check it tomorrow and update the thread there after.
Thanks again for helping me trouble shoot this :lame: problem.

Checked the fuses. All DRL fuses are not blown.
There is no jump from the DRL's to the heal light relay.

Well after re-reading parts of this post the drls wont be the cause of your prblem. If they come on as soon as you start the truck it must be an ambient light sensor problem. The bcm is thinking its dark out therefore turns on the auto headlights. Best guess would be sensor problem without being able toactually check scan data in person. I would check to make sure the sensor is properly seated in the dash and that it is plugged in

HUMTECH - Any Idea how I can check the ambient light sensor?
The dash was obviously removed at some point when they added the after market nav and carbon fiber dash surrounding the NAV unit.
Questions - How can I check the ambient light sensor without ripping the whole dash apart?
Thanks for your help :beerchug:

Humtech - I didn't even realize you are actually in Canada.
I am pretty damn sure that the truck came from Canada.
It has to be that damn ambient light sensor!! You hit the nail on the head.
Now how can I fix it?

You might be able to reach it through the glove box opening i cant remember. Make sure its plugged in. If it is without a scan tool and checking it out could be the sensor, bcm or wiring in between

Thank you once again.
I am pretty sure it is the wiring because the lights will not operate from the light switch. They are on 24/7 if the car is on.
I will check in the glove box and see if I can see the sensor or any wiring.
What is BCM?

Okay, tonight I was going out and the lights went off. It was almost dark. I flipped the light switch to the on position and they still remained off. I was not dark yet. So I went to take a drive. The lights remained off, but then I got to where i was going and the lights went back on and I could turn them off by putting it in the auto position on the light switch. Pretty strange.
Now Its dark out and I can see the auto switch lite up on the light switch, but they will not go off.....maybe because it is dark outside??
So, I got a flash light and shined it in the ambient light sensor and nothing.
Could not get them to go off at all. Totally driving me nutz :crying:
Any ideas? loose wire? That would be my guess?
HUMTECH - any suggestion?
The light is lite up on the light switch on auto (green) and off (amber) .......i'm trippin

Yes sir, that should turn them off, but it does not work. That is my problem.
oh wow.... hmmm.
There is no way of telling then, there has got to be a switch or something for them. Try playing around with the computer and tell them to turn off as soon as you turn the engine off, no Delay on them. I dunno.... something has to work. Good luck.

OKay, one problem solved with the computer I got the lights to go off in the park position as soon as i turn off the engine and pretty much remove the key. As lone as the key is in the off position the lights go off.
I know its from Canada (Canada H2's you can not turn off the drl's) and HUMTECH was right - i think the lights have been jumped from the DRL to the headlights. Sometime I can turn them on and off other times they are just on all the time...no turning them off.
Anyways, I will figure it out eventually.
