led bulbs in there. Replace the switch itself. I've done the swap in the past and takes a few minutes when done properly.

..and here's a cheap place to order them from. If one or two are out, just order up all 4 part numbers and do them all at the same time...the others are probably not far behind. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm

Remove BOTH battery terminals from your battery.
Wait for the power to discharge from the airbag.
Remove steering wheel.
Each switch is held in place and has a tab to be released. Don;t force them out.

There is a more detailed step by step here (SEARCH FUNCTION) that tells you how to change these out easy enough. Dont; be intimidated by teh airbag either. Just use caution and take you time.

I've done all of mine and there is no reason at all to remove the steering wheel. It takes about 2 minutes to replace each one.

As long as you are one of the lucky ones that has a little play in the wire harness behind the plug. My dealer tried to replace one of my switches under warranty this way and they wound up splitting the foam around the switch and had to replace the steering wheel (not to mention they broke the wire harness plug trying to fight to get the plug back in...

If you have an "L" shaped "dental" tool you can manage it.

Thanks guys.... Other than hook up my new train horns (I took the old set off when I had the conversion done) replacing the lights in my steering wheel (which died within the last month) was the last thing I needed to do.

I was going to log onto tonight and read up on it.

Ya'll just saved me some time....

Thanks,

Mark

Just an update. I received my switches this morning. They're closer to 30 bucks a piece but nonetheless, it was as Bill said, a 2 minute job.

Once you have the new ones in your hand, you can see the arrow clips on the backside and if you take an "L" pick, you can slide it down inside and turn to release them.

I only replaced my two uppers since that's all that was needed. The wiring is indeed tight but using the "L" pick again, you can pull the plug upwards and snap it into the switch.

Thanks guys....
