I travel to Mexico a lot where cars are stolen all the time.
I have the factory alarm in my 2009 H3.
I understand the 2009 H3 comes with a chipped ket that is suppossed to stop it from being able to be started even if the bad guys has a scanner and can get the codes from my remote control.
Can someone bypass this alarm and start my vehicle without the chipped key?
Is there anyway to bypass the chip key?
What about starter kills. Is this necessary or is my chipped key all I need?
Thanks!

The chip in your key helps. You could keep up OnStar and if stolen they could kill it remotely if stolen as a deterent as well.:raar:

in mexico?......
for protection, i wouldnt rely on anything that comes from the dealer.
im not saying it isnt good, or anything, its the fact that it is a very common part that is shared among multiple brands, and models.
if your that worried, i would get a aftermarket alarm with a starter kill.
onstar-- again.. in mexico... is onstar going to call the druglords and tell them to stop stealing the vehicle? because thats about the best thing that will come of it. the police wont care about a stolen vehicle, even in the tourist parts.

My concern with OnStar is that stupid antenna they put on the roof. All ya gotta do is reach up there and pull it off....no more OnStar!

Thats a good point and havnt really thought of that. I was thinking about keeping onstar just for the Lo jack type performance. but anyone who know's about these things would just rip off the antenna and away they go!
