Ok guys my Check Engine light keeps popping up on my SUT..It's just the light, not the blinking one so I'm sure it's not a big deal..I took it up to my local Chevrolet place and they thought it was a bad gas pressure sensor. It hasn't been 2-3 weeks later and the light is back. Any ideas why that is?
Thanks,
Austin
Hi you need to read the codes! that light will come on for alot of reasons.

Buy a ScanGuageII and find out what codes the truck is generating. Then you will know where to go to solve the problem. Chech engine lights come on for a hundred reasons!

I know it's probably not a big deal, but it gets old after awhile! My truck is running just like normal..I'm almost thinking it may be from my K&N filter?

I am sure that it is both annoying and frustrating! Especially when there is no apparent reason for the check engine light. But, there is a solution and that is in my previous reply. I get check engine lights on both my H2 and H3 occassionally and for no apparent reason. The ScanGuage will let me pull the codes and clear the check engine light. Problem solved.

Same thing happened to our 2006 H2. It turned out to be a bad catalytic converter.

Well the light was on this morning, then I turned it on later that day and the light went away. Haven't had it since. Don't know what it was.

Is there a way to pull up the engine codes without a scan tool?

Autozone will read your codes for free. I had a similar problem with my old H3 and it turned out to be the pre cat O2 sensor. There is a history and some old threads about the gas caps going bad and giving the check engine light. I'll see if I can find you the link. I have the GT1 diagnostic software for my laptop and the Hummer plug in and I love it. You can use it on all domestic cars and BMWs, Porsches and Mercedes if you get the proper cables and plugs.
