The trucks not done yet. should be done later today, but i did get my weels back from Rack Coating in Canal Fulton,OH. they did awesome work. took a little longer than expected but none the less, look great. i havent decided whether or not to keep the center cap chrome or paint it to match the wheel.

I wanna check it out on the truck then make a desicion after that. I've contemplated powdercoating all the chrome black but I haven't convinced myself yet. I'm sure after the lift and seeing everything together I'll make up my mind.

Yeah man, can't wait to see the truck! Are there also chrome bolts that go in those holes around the outside? Are those also on the fence as to whether they stay chrome or go black?

2010_5thgen
01-19-2012, 09:33 PM
the chrome bolts were plastic and they were destroyed in the pre powdercoating phase. Didn't really want them in anyways. Makes it a bit cleaner looking without them I think. I'm dying here! I wanted to pick up the truck today but gotta wait til tomorrow!

i was even thinking of painting the chrome center cap gloss black to have it tie in with the truck a bit more without being "flashy".

atomicgoofball
01-19-2012, 09:54 PM
Yeah caps are easy to get painted later, test it out see how u feel! Can even photoshop them too once they are on the truck to compare. I bet your soo excited! This is gonna change the look of your truck in a huge good way! You may not be able to sleep tonight hahah!

i couldnt sleep last night, thinking i was gonna get it tonight. im just worried about how its going to drive. i hope i didnt ruin my truck. but like anything im sure ill have to get used to it. like my camaro after all my suspension mods, it rode really rough, but i love it now and wouldnt have it any other way. i just hope my wife likes it. were having a baby this year and i hope its not too much for her. i told her i had to get this thing ready for the zombie apocalypse. :giggling:

Haha!!! Congrats on the baby bro!! Get on our zombie response team now! Ride wise I don't think it's gonna be bad, ur getting an allignment ASAP so ur good! U got a lift or level? I'm leveled with 37, rides like stock but with some minor rubbing at full cock (no homo lol)

2010_5thgen
01-19-2012, 10:06 PM
lift, not leveled. and they are doing the allignment at the shop tomorrow, thats why i cant get it today. they ended up using something liek the dyna beads that i had heard about on here. they would have had to use like 50 oz of stick on weights , so instead they just used those beads for the balancing.

Love the powdercoat. For the caps, spray it with Plastidip. It should match the wheel finish pretty nicely and if it doesn't and you'd rather have it gloss black, you can peal it off and paint it gloss black.:D

Man those look great. Can't wait to see them on the rig. You running chrome lugs? I think they would look good with chrome centers and lugs. If your running black lugs deff. paint em.

well, i gotta say, when i first saw the truck, i was scared. honestly, i thought i ruined my truck and that my wife was going to kill me. she didnt like it.....at first. so i was driving home. drives normal on the roads. handles fine. just really tall. i was thinking, " how is my pregnant wife going to get in and out of this thing?". " how the hell are my dogs going to get in and out of here?" after looking at it more its really growing on me. after we got home, my wife said " you were sooo much taller than everyone on the road" and she laughed. and i got her approval on it now. she got in it. had no problem using the side steps.
the guy who did the ligt is a mazzi dealer and he is going to look into getting me new chrome rivets where the other ones came out. i think it will look pretty good with them. maybe ill do a photoshop to see.
the spare wheel isnt on yet. i have to take it back to get re- powdercoated. it didnt turn out good at all. has some runs in the paint and chrome flakes sticking up.
tires are great. not really noisy....surprisingly. my nittos were louder.
so.....im pretty happy with everything. even though it doesnt fit in the garage. but at least i have remote start.

I dig it, but you may need to step it up a bit with a larger rim/tire combo. That lift makes the rims look small

What!? Thanks but no thanks. It's a brand new setup. The 20's with 38's is plenty for me. It's going to settle down a bit over time. But this setup is just fine with me. Almost too large

I'm running 40 inch Goodyears on mine and they have the beads in them as well and I was surprised how well it rides with them. You will love the ride. I also have the Mazzi Hulks but mine are black and polished in 17's. Your truck looks good.

Is there an extension kit or something for the factory tube steps to drop th down a bit? How much lower do the steps sit that you are installing? I'd like to make it a bit easier to helps wife get in.

I won?t know how much lower the power amp steps will make it till tomorrow.

I?ll measure the two heights and let you know. Accorfing to the pics I?ve seen... looks like quite a bit.

OrangeCrush

The steps are made by this company (http://www.amp-research.com/products/truckaccessories/powerstep/).

When I checked prices, they were about 1100-1200 bucks.

I thought I read that from the floor to the top of the step was 13 1/2" on their website somewhere.

I'll definitely let you know today when I get the truck back.

Well after talking with my wife, we've decided we're gonna need another family car. Lol. So I think at the end of this year right after we have the baby, we're gonna buy out the lease on my sisters 08 h3. We're adding another hummer to the lineup! Lol. Now I need a new house to put all 5 cars lol

heres a few pictures i took next to my sisters 08 H3. ive decided that im going to buy out her lease on this thing. only 15K for a H3, loaded with less than 40K on it! great deal.

I haven't seen that commercial in ages.

H1s are definitely monsters...I thought hard about an 03 open-top a few years back, but just worry too much about maintenance cost. At least the 2s and 3s are GM parts...break a tie rod on a trail?...get a ride the GMC dealer in town and buy a new one. Break a tie rod on an H1?...depending upon the year you may be waiting quite a while for that part.

If the Mega Millions or Power Ball works out for me I'll revisit this though...

It's just the rancho kit but I have the Chevy green keys in. They keys are only turned enough to make it leveled. I don't even know if the green keys were necessary but their in there

Amp's are awesome, they make a extension(s) that can make em go lower, I'd so get them except w/ a body lift they wouldn't go up to my rocker as they utilize the oem rock rail mounting holes on the frame for the H2 application.

Well guys.....I have some bad news. I'm going to be selling my truck. It's been a lot of thinking and weighing my options. The way it sits right now, I'm going to be selling the hummer. I love this truck. Especially with the lift. But me and my wife were talking and we both think it's best to sell. Reason being, we're having a baby in August and the truck is really a pain in the ass for my wife to get in and out of. Plus I have 2 big Rottweilers that I can no longer get in the back. So, I really hate to see this thing go, but it's best for me and my family. So if anyone is interested in it, send me a pm or email me at z06transam@yahoo.com

No. This is really me. Ever since the lift I've been thinking this In my head that I ruined my hummer for my family. And I did. It is no longer practical for me as my daily driver with my wife, future baby and my dogs. I was telling myself that I'll do other things to make it work and bla bla bla. But really I should have done this years ago before getting married and before a kid. I've had the thing for 4 years. I am really hating myself right now because I love this truck but it's too late to go back

No. Just starting to realize things. Too bad I realized it too late. I damn near almost ruined a brand new Camaro. But luckily I stopped before it got out of control. But now I ruined my daily driver. Can't drive it long distances. Can't get my dogs in it. My wife slipped getting in it the other day. That's all I need in the middle of winter is my wife to slip on ice climbing into my truck and something happen to her or the baby.

Bimmer9938

Put steps on it and a cargo basket on a dropped mount, so your dogs hop on the cargo basket then in the truck...

2010_5thgen
01-28-2012, 04:58 AM
I have steps on it now.Their the stock tube steps. I have found steps for dogs. Goes about 40" high. 5 steps that are 18x18". I may buy this before I go and sell this. It may be my cheapest resolution.

Bimmer9938

Put some hex screws into the tube step sills to increase wet/snow traction (footing) like when they stud a tire. :beerchug:

Spray your steps/bars with Line-X, or something similar. I did this to my Amp steps, and it made a huge difference in the rain.

Especially when it is paid off, it is just a toy at that point and you can never get back the love that you have put into it in trying to sell it.

More so, now that they don't make them anymore, better to just keep a hold of your beast; it will be worth bank someday and you will be glad that you kept it. Besides, I don't think the H2 was ever made for our wives anyways:clapping:
