Hey all,
I am curious if anyone has played with the thermostats on these trucks?
I know that in my Vette, I went down to a 160 degree thermo.
Just wondering if there is any benefit or disadvantage dropping the H2 engine down to a 180 or 160 degree thermo?

190 to 195 is what you want for the best fuel milage .If the T stat opens at 160 you may not go into closed loop in the winter . In the summer the coolant needs to stay in the rad long enough to cool down . No T stat or a 160 is not a good idea.

I've been utilizing a 160 thermonstat in my ZO6 and H2 for seven years now. I have seen improvements in mpg and engine temps with daily driving and most noticeably while towing my boat. Spoke with Lingenfelter before ordering and they had great things to say about a lower thermostat and I have been very pleased. :beerchug:

Thanks guys for the input
ira51 and stellar, where are you located?

i am as far south as you can get before hitting the leg of florida, so it tends to stay pretty warm here. the most i have seen it drop to is normally 50s in the winter

I'm in Phoenix ,AZ . I'm surprised your check engine /MIL did not come on with a 160 T stat.

Utah. Extremely hot summers, very cold winters. No issues with either vehilce as I'm not one to park my Vette for winter as well.
