I was removing the upper control arm and the knuckle slipped on me. Everything is installed except the upper ball joint nut.
I seemed to have popped it back as I can turn the shafts.
But is that aligned some certain way in there?

no worries about the half shaft being aligned a certian way.
as long as it fits in, and bolted down, your good.
if someone says they are aligned a certian way.. then i am in serious trouble or i need to check my lotty ticket cuz i have about 10k on my rig since i messed around under neath.
i also replaced both shafts and slapped them on and forgot about them.
actually replaced drivers side twice due to the band holding the rubber boot on the shaft kept hitting something and busting the band.
i eventually replaced it again and hammered down the little nub part on the band that was hitting. just seemed to be raised up a little too high

Thanks and I hope you're right. We are talking axle flange bolted to transfer case and axle nut off the hub end allowing it to pop out of the flange, right?
I've never seen or had to repair an axle shaft so I dont get how they work.
I was surprised to see the inside flange was smooth.
