Hey all,
For some reason my rear window wiper has found itself south of the equator.
I have no idea why, but it is just reating about an inch or two below the glass line.

I would take the arm and move it back to above the glass line, but after a few wipes it tends to fall back down again. Then if I move it up to a few inches above the glassline then it will stay they but only wipe in a small pattern.

The wiper work, just isnt staying in place or wiping the area properly.

Any ideas of the problem and the fix?

From your description, I would guess that your wiper arm is not set to the wiper motor range.

By this I mean the motor only knows to operate one direction to a point and then return the other direction to the starting point and repeat until you turn it off. So, if the wiper arm base is set on the motor in the wrong position, this will cause the wiper arm to operate in the wrong area. I believe there is a attachment nut on the base, that nut may also have got loose and let the wiper arm slide over a few inches.

If the wiper motor IS working, then you can rule out a motor issue. It would be more of a setting issue with the wiper arm and its attachment to the motor base.

Hope this helps.

I somewhat agree with fyr. Next time wiper arm falls down off the glass you should remove arm from motor and index it to the proper position, don't just push it up. if that doesn't work then its the motor at fault. The wiper motor is what controls where the wiper arm parks itself, if its not parking correctly then internal wiper motor fault.

Thanks Hummtech!

I was trying to use the right wording to convey my message across the right way.
